Mine is 14, I make sure he understands how hard some of the bottles are to get and the replacement cost on the 2nd hand market. He better not frick with it.

He’s 14. Took his phone, not going anywhere this weekend, and he’s gotta pay me $50.

just make him get a job as a stock boy at a liquor store, that way he can tell you when the allocated stuff comes in....

I would have sat there for days trying to figure it out...you nailed it in under a minute.

I raised one daughter to adulthood, she either was perfect or got away with murder. Two boys not far off from teenhood....I better sharpen up my skills.

Not enough. Eagle Rare is really difficult to get. At least in my area.

This thread is gold.

OP, you should have fricked with him some though. Poured something in there to make it taste terrible for him or take it out for dinner one time and made a drink with everyone around and then start choking on it or something. Make him think he fricked it up somehow.

That's impressive the first post called it out.

Punishment seems kind of harsh especially since he was honest with you. Most kids would just lie about it and parents would still be wondering what happened to their liquor

A real parent would make him drink the rest and puke as punishment.

I’m fortunate here in that it’s fairly easy to find and my local shop has it for $32. It’s become one of my favorites.

This might be the single most upvotes I've seen on the F&D board ever (I'm sure there is a post with more in the Whiskey thread but that's also north of 20k posts). Well done.

Hell yeah! I hope he feels stupid for dilluting a bourbon that's becoming increasingly harder to find.

Does he even understand that part??

I deal with 15 year olds on a daily basis, and I don't believe in their ability to understand anything.

I'm just a few years behind you. Daughter will be a teenager very soon, and is a saint most of the time. She doesn't quite judge us as much for drinking as she used to. My wife still pours her daytime beers in a tumbler with a good lid though. It is the two boys I'm worried about. But the oldest just turned 7, and by the time they're teenagers their big sis will be out of the house.

It also takes me back to when I was about 15. My parents drank in front of us, but never excessively. Dad liked his whisky, and kept it in a box in a lower cabinet near our ice maker. Some of my friends and I got into some JD and tried to add some water to keep it at the same level. Not sure if Dad ever caught on, but not long after that he didn't care if we drank as long as we stayed at our house. This was when we were all of driving age. He even told me to help myself to the beer but leave the liquor alone if friends are over.

I'm sure he enjoyed that Eagle Rare with some Coca-Cola too.
