I googled with not much of an answer so wanted to see if any of you could help. I have a bottle of Eagle Rare that’s been open a few weeks and all of a sudden it turned a much lighter color than my unopened bottles and taste different. Any ideas what happened? I’ve never had a bottle of bourbon do this.

Does your teenager seem hungover? If so, it’s water in your bottle.

If he drank it proper, he should have to replace the bottle. Then in the future he should run it by you before he hits the bottle.

If he mixed it, beat the hell out him. It's for his own good. It'll hurt you more than it will hurt him.

Keep the good stuff visible in the front and the shite bottles in the back. My strategy was always going for the bottles that looked like they never got used

Go easy on him. Make him do a chore to make up for your loss on the whiskey, but let him slide on punishment.

Also, how old is he?

Just catching up on this. I nailed my son doing this, too. I told him that it was dangerous because if he dilutes it too much, the alcohol won't kill bacteria and someone taking a sip could get seriously sick. That scared him. He hasn't done it since.

I have had bottles oxidize and get cloudy, though.

My parents had a big bottle of vodka that never got used in the top of the pantry. My mom marked the level with a permanent marker. My brother and I replaced it with water. Almost 10 years later she went to use the vodka for something and found out it was water. We both got a pretty angry phone call.
