Chicago will never learn.

That budget shortfall doesn't even include their pension commitments.

She had the power to stop the riots with no to minimal damage but ordered the police to stand down.

Coronavirus pandemic: $1.2 billion

Rioting and looting: $60 million.

Not an accountant and did not spend night at Holiday Inn Express, but those numbers appeared skewed.

Perhaps mayor lightfoot can refund the city the amount spent keeping her personal residence safe while the town burned.

They don't get a dime of federal money. I don't pay taxes to bailout pet projects, rioters, and socialistic local governments.

You can bet your arse both Chicago and New York and a handful of other liberal utopias will get bailed out by the feds. It's inevitable.

I can buy into it if they made significant fiscal changes as a condition, going as far as going into stewardship and forms of austerity. That being said, none of that will happen.

Luckily they just approved weed and sports gambling which should take a large chunk of that shortfall away. California has $1B in weed tax revenue. CO has $200M. Chicago will probably have $75-100M.

I know people on here love to see Democrat run cities suffer but a lot of those cities citizens will get sick of places like Chicago, move to our cities and then frick it up for us.
