Have had it for a few years. It never crossed my mind today until I saw this thread.

Only advice that I can give you is do a test to see if its caused about artificial sweeteners. If I put a drop of diet bev on my tongue, the loudness of my tinnitus will drive me half crazy. I deal with it normally.

I've had it since I was 18 or 19. Never listened to my dad, who also suffered. I was young and tough. HA! Paying the price now. I'm only 31 and have mostly gotten used to it, but I can't hear things that beep with the same high pitch, like my driveway gate or smoke detectors, etc. It drives my wife crazy.

Its also extremely difficult to hear people with lots of background noise. And now everyone wears masks so I can't read lips to put sounds together.

Go see an audiologist at an ENT

Why did you put the qualifier on this?

There are plenty of good audiologists that don't work under an ENT.

Yep. I notice it most when its really quiet so I sleep best with a little background noise.

Too much background noise and I have trouble following a conversation.

man......i should've listen to the older folks about the loud noises in my youth. this sucks so fricking bad.

mynoise.net YOU'RE WELCOME.

eta you can put on some headphones and tweak the settings to match your level of tinnitus and it will apply that filter to any of the white noise options.

best site ever

Wasn’t intentional. Not my line of work so nothing to gain from my end.

So basically I agree. Find a good audiologist.....wherever they are located.

Yes, my ears ring. I am deafer in my left ear (shotgun blast) than the right ear. I use it as white noise at night to go to sleep.

caro81, my dentist tells me the same about grinding. How long did it take to go away after you started the guard?

Yep, had it for years. I've learned to ignore it for the most part, but it does get annoying.

especially when trying to fall asleep at night at times. Other times i've gotten to just ignore it.

Yes, along with some sudden hearing loss in one ear and hyperacusis. Those drive me nuts way more than the tinnitus. Start keeping track of things you eat and drink, or noises around you. You can figure out a sort of pattern. When you have one good ear and a funky other one, you are constantly hearing two different things which is a chore. The tinnitus doesn’t bother me that much anymore, it’s amazing what your mind and body can adapt to.

Huh?
I can't hear you over the fricking ringing in my ears.

The last time I did a pre employment hearing screen I just about went nuts in the soundproof booth.

My case is relatively mild. I'd hate to deal with severe damage.

It's miserable. I had pulsatile tinnitus for a couple months after I had a Carotid Artery dissection. Glad it's gone and I hope it never returns.

I have a small ring at all times I think - over the years I've learned to ignore it.

I do try to wear earplugs to concerts now to avoid the pain I know I'll put myself through the next few days without them.
