man......i should've listen to the older folks about the loud noises in my youth. this sucks so fricking bad.

Yep, had it for years. I've learned to ignore it for the most part, but it does get annoying. There are treatments that are supposed to help, but I never found any that worked for me.

It’s not constant for me, but I have ringing from my days in the military. Apparently they will pay me for it, but I’ve never pursued it.

I do. I think over time you just get kind of used to it. It really drove me crazy when I first started with it.

Yes.
Tempted to try this stuff.
Warning: Infomercial.
Stop Tinnitus
ETA: Notice when it’s worse and you can figure out that certain foods, food types, caffeine or alcohol can affect the levels.
Takes time but may prove helpful.

i did for years. i read somewhere that a common cause is teeth grinding while you sleep. i got a guard (not one from store, a personalized one from your dentist). couple of months wearing it while i slept, tinnitus is pretty much gone. I would suggest you try it. Ive read that it works for alot of people but not everyone, and the guards can get expensive. I think mine was $400. Id pay double that for the results i got.
Edit: and i dont even wear the guard anymore and still tinnitus free.

for the last 20 years. and it's gotten progressively worse over time. like a constant fire alarm going off inside my ears.

I got tinnitus and almost total permanent hearing loss in my left ear from a brain tumor(Acoustic neuroma). They treated the tumor but the rest is permanent. It is like some jackhole has been blowing a whistle in my ear for 10 years.
The positive is I can sit to my wife's right and accidentally ignore everything she says.

this may be the issue. my dentist tells me that my teeth show evidence of grinding every 6 mos when i get cleaned.

I've been in recording studios and stages for 20+ years. Never used earplugs because i loved loud, i shouldnt have taken it for granted.
I have to ask my girlfriend to repeat herself a lot. She gets annoyed with me if she's talking to me from another room and I dont hear a single word of it.
My tvs have to be turned up more than most people find comfortable, so yeah. Makes me nervous in a way

yeah man, id give it a shot if thats not too expensive for you. im not gonna lie, wearing the guard SUCKS but it really did help me. Again, you can have tinnitus for many reasons but thats an easy one to try to rule out.

I have felt weird ever since I learned how "tinnitus" is actually supposed to be pronounced. It just sounds unnatural.

If you have hearing loss with it, a hearing aid can help. It will basically increase the outside noise so you don’t “hear” the tinnitus as much. Not a cure, but can help.
Go see an audiologist at an ENT
Can also use a white noise sound app on your phone at night
