I wonder why it took so long for one to come forward and leak the video. Was he keeping his mouth shut until another pissed him off or was he scared to come forward.

The old Chief was an ex FBI agent and good dude. From what I understand he wanted to bring all of this to light and was fired. Mayor hires the guy that was involved in the incident as Chief and they cover it up. Mayor is going to be done when all said and done as well.

I saw the report last night and I thought the attorney handled the matter exceptionally well. Even though the video shows white officers hitting a black suspect, he never suggested the matter was racially motivated. He also mentioned how "backing the blue" sometimes means supporting police officers who are trying to get rid of bad officers. "Bad officers" doesn't always mean "racist officers". Like in any profession, sometimes you just have a-holes who shouldn't be in their position. In this case, it was the PD that leaked the tape in effort to clean up the department. That speaks volumes.

There's a lot of fat fricks in that video. How is there no real standard for physical fitness in municipal police forces?

I'm Glossing over everything else in that video obviously.

This coming Saturday, Hammond is voting on renewing a Millage that helps fund the police department. It's up for renewal, and is a big part of the funding.

I wonder if this video was magically released to sway people from renewing it?

The leak came from inside the department. I doubt that the officers at the PD want the millage defeated. It was released because the Chief is despised by the officers in the department.

Why can’t he focus on criminals like Tarsha Clarke-Lamar?

Some info to stroke some interest. Pete and Edwin were connected to some of the same local businesses over the years. Check cashing places I believe. Maybe some car washes too. Not totally sure. The connections between politicians is typical Louisiana.

This isn't an indictment on the Hammond Police Department being racist. This is an indictment on the fact that it's a bunch of lowlife dumb meatheads who couldn't get a job doing anything else, so they sign up to be a cop so they can make $35,000 a year. They don't know shite about being professional. All they know is to be some redneck barney fife. I've had my own personal run ins in the past with the Hammond Police Department and an off duty cop. I'm speaking from personal experience. They are the epitome of abuse of power when it comes to being a cop.

Agreed. I've seen cops who would know how to handle a situation like that and have that suspect in his place where he needed to be without having to punch and kick him. Professionals. These clowns are the opposite of that.
