Although [Grant's] performance on the battlefield is clearly much better than those of his contemporaries, it should be noted that his Civil War arch-rival, Robert E. Lee, is so far below him on the list that he actually has a negative score.

No Subutai? Are you fricking kidding me? And Grant being higher than Zhukov or Alexander? Yeah, sure.

Amazing case study of what happens when literally everyone invades you and you fight them off for a decade plus, simply because they don't like your government.

Not quite sure that’s how the Napoleonic wars happened. Napoleon’s most famous victories were in Italy, Prussia, and Austria.

The spread of one’s DNA should be weighted heavily. Genghis Khan deserves a spot. He did the undoable.

I think his subordinate Subutai was even better than Genghis, but I think both deserve to be on the list.

That's the one I'm reading now. I'm only about 80 pages in so far, but I am enjoying it a lot.

Napoleon the Great by Andrew Roberts is an excellent and very detailed book. Just finished it. Goes over not only battles but all the story of his life.

For battles Epic History on YouTube has a series on both Napoleon and Alexander.

You don't know too much about the Napoleonic Wars then.

Grant violated the Geneva Convention and killed civilians as well as destroying their livestock, crops, and livestock. Grant won because of the sheer number of soldiers.
If the South had won he and Lincoln could have been charged as war criminals

To be honest, I don't think that America has really produced a Top 10 general ever. Top 20, sure, but not sure if they measure up to some of the greats that rode along Alexander and Genghis as well as a few other generals littered throughout history.

Where was Napoleon’s most famous victory in France?

Where is Austerlitz located? And Marengo? Arcole? Jena and Auerstedt? Borodino? Tell me, Einstein.

I seem to recall Napoleon taking that Grand Armee on a lot of marches and only fighting on the homefront on a couple of campaigns.

maybe. id argue we have produced some of the absolute greatest admirals of all time as we have always been more focused on our navy, and air force in the later half of the 20th century, than our army
