Will be reinstated started August 9th. Until now that has been waived.

Good. If it’s as easy as in Texas, it takes like 20 min a week. If you are receiving benefits, you should already bee doing 10x this during the course of the week anyway.

Do you have to prove you looked for work or just say you looked?

Years ago you had to get a form signed by potential employers saying you tried getting a job with them but none were available. Now you just press a button on the phone or online saying you are actively seeking a job.

I'm glad I have been keeping a running spreadsheet on all this. Makes it easier and glad it's back.

It was suspended because of federal requirements. Sorry to tell y’all, but Congress is getting ready to extend federal unemployment by at least $400 a week until the end of the year. There’s over 20 million people unemployed mostly through no fault of their own.

There have almost 400,000 people currently receiving unemployment in Louisiana. I can’t imagine the workforce commission making a million phone calls a week to verify job searches. Unemployment max is only $222 a week after tax. That’s nothing.

I’m pretty sure you just list 3 places you looked so technically you can put Monster, Indeed & LinkedIn every week

Good. When I was on unemployment it was a pain in the arse back in the day. I hope these people enjoy that.

You do have to fill out some specific details.

It's not that hard, but you do have to actually prove that you applied to a specific job.

I saw some loophole to the requirement being shared by a terrible IG page yesterday. Wish I could find it now.

It was basically something like "Put that you demand $15/hour plus full benefits on your resume when you apply, and you will be turned down for the job. You technically applied, so this satisfies the requirement."

Ok, we don't need to pretend that everyone on unemployment is doing that.

Why is their so much hate for people who pay a ton in taxes and are still shut down by the governor getting an abysmal $222 a week unemployment? Not everyone is a minimum wage loser or refusing to work. Very few places are more than 50% capacity.

So people who own bars or wedding reception venues and are shut down by the governor need to apply for minimum wage jobs? They pay thousands in taxes and are shut down through no fault of their own. They shouldn’t be able to collect $222 a week unemployment that they’ve been paying in unemployment taxes for years? My 70 year old neighbor is a substitute teacher. So she shouldn’t be able to get any unemployment?

"Actually prove...."How, specifically? Is there a
"page" on the verification form that pops up as you scroll through the verification process? What information is required : name, address. phone #, etc ?

Thanks for asking.

Had a great face-to-face interview yesterday morning.

I've got a couple other possibilities out that I'm up for. I don't think there will be any kind of bounce back in the job market, but it feels like it's gradually getting more optimistic.

I would be more open to moving, but the wife has a good job here.

So the last time I was on unemployment was about 10 years ago, it might be different now.

You had to list company, position applied for, some kind of contact info. There were also some fields that were not required, like a contact name. Most online job postings don't have contact names.

It's really not that hard, but you do have to prove you're trying. If UI offices actually have time to investigate fraudulent claims, they'll have a little more evidence to go through and say "you applied for this job, they offered, you refused - no more UI benefits for you".
