Expect litigation if NCAA exerts viewpoint discrimination on jersey messages

Most colleges are public bodies funded by tax payer dollars. Once the NCAA allows viewpoint messaging on jerseys they will be open to litigation should they try to decide what is allowed and what is denied. Imagine the NCAA denying Liberty University and other similar religious based schools their messaging but allowing other schools broad latitude.

The NCAA should stay out of politics. They will lose fans, just like the NFL and MLB have done.

What happens when the first player puts a red MAGA patch on?

The jersey's are made in sweat shops in China. Oh the irony.

The NCAA isn't controlling the messages. The schools and conferences are. Even if they were controlling them, they aren't a state actor, so no free speech issues would be implicated.
But you are correct that public institutions could have a problem if they start regulating the content of the players' speech.

“Everything is political” is such an academically bankrupt mantra that people cling to, and it’s absurd
There’s nothing inherently political about a group of 22 guys moving a football around, these governing bodies need to stop trying to inject it into everything

Like now in college, the national anthem should occur prior to players taking the field and uniforms should be required to all be the same.

it’s a massive mistake for entertainment organizations to get political. I will no longer watch one single second of the NFL and NBA. Not one.
The NCAA is taking a massive risk, and one they don’t need to take. Simply say they’re not a political organization and leave it at that.
But they’re cowards, just like all the rest.

What’s funny is that BLM is not about black lives. ANTIFA is not about “anti fascism”. It’s simply a Marxist movement hell bent on destroying America. They use the George Floyd murder as an excuse to start their shite. They are funded by Marxist groups including George Soros. It is well coordinated and funded. It is an evil movement. The evil one controls the leftists and the University liberal professors have brain washed so many of our young. They want to create fear. That’s why everyone seems to be bowing down to them. It’s politically correct. The NCAA bows down to them. It won’t last long. They are punks. When Trump decides to stop it, it will stop. They will run for cover. Things will go back to normal. History seems to be circular. What comes around goes around.
