You EBR teachers are pathetic. Union or not, conservative or liberal, it shouldn’t matter what you are if you’re really trying to help the kids. Those kids will live the abuse you were too scared to stand up for. It’s disgusting

I’m sorry you are tired of dealing with your kids. Keep that in mind next time Junior gets in trouble at school and you are quick to blame the teacher.

Stop acting like this situation is the teachers choice.

Who knows

Just noticed the 316 at the end of your tag. That in reference to an area code?

There is a good chance private schools go online too. If that happens, I think it would be devastating for private schools. Many parents are going to have a hard time justifying paying for online instruction.

Luckily, I don’t have kids in the public school system. Still you have no argument. You just assume I’m tired of my kids because I want them to receive a normal education like every other kid for the last century. Stop being lazy and take responsibility or never tell me you’re doing this job for the kids. It’s just a paycheck to you.

Ahhh gotcha.

I relocated to Wichita after college from La. Our area code here is 316 so I was about to get excited

I actually met a poster here a few weeks ago randomly out and about.

What will private schools do? Will this kill them off? Who would pay private school prices for a "virtual learning environment"?

Whatever they want. They are private. My kids school will be fully open come August.

Naw I didn't relocate that far.....although I think about moving out of LA every year especially with my corp office being in Houston and I travel to Houston at least 4-5 times a year (pre-COVID)....I moved just 80 miles west of BR and I generally like it here.

I’m signing up for a homeschool program and will hire a tutor instead of private school tuition if they go online

What are their plans when a bunch of student and teachers test positive?

I ask everyone in the private bubble this because I'm in that bubble myself and my daughter's school still hasn't provided me with a good answer.

You are a fool that is having a hard time keeping up. Nothing that has been decided or will be decided is the choice of teachers. Calling them lazy and only wanting to only collect a check is blaming people who have no voice or vote in the decision making process.

Maybe not day one, but it is hard to imagine there will not be outbreaks at those settings as well.

I bet they’d find a way to get involved if no school meant no paycheck

IMO that’s the biggest hurdle to fully in-person instruction. Teachers and staff are going to likely get sick even if it’s not severe. Most states already had a substitute teacher shortage before COVID-19. And at least here, most subs are retired teachers who are likely not going to return to in person.

This is bullshite. Let kids back in school. Let parents who want to keep their kids at home keep their kids at home, I don't give a frick, they can hold their kids progress back. The online bullshite they passed as school at the end of last year was a joke. Kids are not learning anything from that crap. Replacing 7+ hours a day of in person instruction with 15 minutes 3 days a week on zoom does not work. Sure they gave kids lots of online busy work, but it was just that, online busywork. No discussion, no explanations, no learning! They just used pre planned online curriculum you can get for free online anyway. EBR spends $13k plus per student in public schools, it is asinine to pay that for google classroom and Kahn academy. I didn't even touch on special needs students. It is hard as hell to get child care for a nonverbal autistic child during normal times, it is damn impossible to get it during covid times. Special needs kids need routine and structure and they cannot do their classes online. They turned the Autistic summer camp into an online format, they wanted a 5 year old nonverbal autistic kid to sit in front of a computer on zoom for 4 hours a day, how the frick is that going to happen. frick JBE. frick Bloome. frick Warren Drake. Give me the $13k per kid and I will find them a quality education.
