Spot on.....the fact that many of these schools can't articulate a plan for when students and staff test positive is a big red flag for me that they aren't really serious about re-opening. I'm even wondering if they just reopen to get kids enrolled and paying tuition and then go virtual because they "can't handle the cases"

It's BS.

Some teachers need to be quitting and looking to form smaller "private tutor sessions" to take the place of the schools if these are the shite options.

Does that private tutor position come with all the state retirement and benefits?

they are allowing the teachers kids to go every day and not just the 2 days.

For LSU lab? What about professors at LSU that have their kids there?

Any clue on when the diocese is kicking out a plan for the Catholic schools in EBR?

I believe they should go back full time, but the one concern is teachers when they get sick and are out for an extended period of time.

Honestly, I’d volunteer for one week as a substitute this year if every other family did the same if it meant giving up that one week for the kids being in school the whole year. I doubt this would ever be used, but can they honestly take anything off the table at this point?

People will pay.
Public school parents won’t, because they can’t. They’d spend more money paying for tutors for their kids then they’d make at jobs.

You won’t see this reported because teachers don’t care because they will still get paid in full.
You have NO idea what you are talking about. Most teachers I know spend over $500 of their own money buying supplies and things for students whose parents don’t. No way would any of us allow an abused student to go uncared for and unreported.

Teachers just want the paycheck
Oh, yeah because that $3,300 a month after taxes and insurance is so much money.

Contrary to what you think, most of us actually love teaching and our students. It’s people like you, who probably hasn’t been in a classroom since you graduated and knows nothing about our day to day work experience, that we can’t stand.

That’s laughable that because you spend up to $500 for your job that you are some saint. Give me a break. You probably met that $500 back from the Christmas gifts or teacher appreciation gifts you receive during the year.

You’re missing my point. How many kids are being abused one way or the other and it won’t get picked up because you weren’t there in person? How many kids will be scarred for life? How many kids will fall behind never to make up for lost school time? How many depressed kids with turn to self harm because they have no support system? How many kids intellectual growth will be forever stunted?

It’s all good because you spend $500 on your classroom. That kid you would typically report to appropriate authorities is still suffering abuse because you didn’t stand up to protect them.

This is the beginning of the end to these traditional public schools.

First of all, you choose your career not me. I wouldn’t decide to go into a career that doesn’t pay me enough unless I could earn money another way. I guess that’s why you have all those weeks off during the summer. If you decide not to utilize your time better, that’s on you.

Second, I have been private school classrooms. I have not been in public school classrooms. From what I’ve heard, it’s night and day. Once again, you choose your path not me.

Finally, if you loved teaching children you would try to make that happen in the fall. Actions are louder than words. Love the children all you want be sit in silence as the government harms them.

You think parents are giving teachers gifts in EBR schools ? I'd say your chances of dying of COVID is greater than your chances of getting a gift from a parent in EBR. My wife pretty much didn't get shite until she transferred to the school in our neighborhood which is full of white collar parent kids.

Doesn’t look like your wife wants to spend that $500 this year.

What have I said that is stupid?

I had zero issues with teachers growing up. I have issues with teachers trying to act like they are saints and doing it for the kids when they really aren’t. I have issues with them complaining about their pay. They are hypocrites and just paying lip service.

Me and a couple of people are the only ones actually trying to stand up for the kids and they aren’t my kids.
