That has nothing to do with what was being asked. The guy claiming cable is still more expensive than YTTV at $65/mo was asked if he’s looked at cable prices lately. I would bet in every market you can find a cable or satellite provider offering TV packages where the cable portion is less than $65
How many options would I get depending on where I live? 2-3 if I’m lucky
How many of those options allow me to leave the deal at any time without any penalty?
The consumer wins because there’s less barrier of entry for competition. It’s as simple as that.
If you find a good cable deal you like, go ahead grab it. But I doubt you’ll be satisfied with it. I honestly don’t get the complaints here

Cut the cord! You'll spend $200/month on subscription services alone!
Is this the part where we pretend that it makes any sense to have every subscription service out there when a large chunk of them overlap in service?

And they just lost their biggest show to Netflix?

Pluto tv and an antenna. $0 per month. I paused my YouTube tv account and have been doing this for a month and I don’t miss it one bit

Well when you remove YouTube content that did bring in ad revenue this is what you get.... a price increase. So lefty subscribers that are celebrating the removal of conservative content are paying to do that. Interesting.

Att fiber in NOLA is $50 for 350mbps up and down
Looks like I can get GB for $60 if I bundle it with another service. The next best option is 100 Mbps. We have AT&T cell service if that counts.
I've just had Cox for like 20 years and never really bothered shopping around.

So you cut the cable and now your paying the same price you were paying for TV but now you also got to buy the internet connection with it to stream it
Except I don’t have to rent a fricking cable box for $15 a month in order to get tv all over my house. I was paying for over what I pay now for tv and internet and I only have one tv with cable. And the internet was shitty. This remains the best deal as long as you are willing to spend money on the streaming devices, which are one time fees of like $35.

frick, I was planning to subscribe soon.

If someone would come out with a true a la carte live TV service, they'd make a killing. Let someone pick their own package of exactly which channels they want with none of the ones they don't. There's about 12-15 channels I'd want and that's it.
Too bad that is impossible since the people who own the channels only want to sell them in bundles.

I jumped to YTTV when Hulu raised their prices. Now it is another 15%+ increase and I'm sure Hulu will follow suit.

ETA: ATT TV Now (the old Directv Now) is up to $65/mo too, but that's including HBO (and Max).

I haven't cut the cord just yet... seemed to me like all these streaming services were creeping toward being just as expensive as cable...looks like it's getting closer

I saw that on the tech board. At this point I'm paying the same as cable prices for TV and internet. I might as well go back. The circle of life
Yup

I split YouTube TV with one of my siblings, we each have our own profile and I just Venmo them every month

This increase also has the price of the regional Fox sports channels baked in. They were going to drop them but people revolted and they reversed course quick.

Yep. People will just jump from service to service or pirating could become more popular again.
With some actors making $25 million a movie or almost a million per TV episode, someone has to pay.
