There are total wines all over Southern California. And liquor stores, wine shops, bottle shops etc. They can coexist. Don't underestimate the insatiable appetite of consumers as you say.

Their selection is unmatched. The ones out here even stock Russian River beers sometimes which is not easy to find.

ETA side note: Beer guys, did y'all know that RR occasionally does collaborations? I found a RR / Sierra Nevada Belgian style ale at total wine

I could get in Reynosa for $14.00 a bottle it's 24.00/bottle at Total Wine in Houston and 52/bottle here in Lafayette at Marcello's

Marcello’s probably isn’t happy about the total wine opening up in lafayette soon although they will be across town. TW will be right across the street from Whole Foods which has one of the best beer selections in Lafayette- will be interesting to see how they play in this market

in 5 years the landscape of liquor business in New Orleans will be alot different then it is today...

I'm not sure about that. Maybe a few places that were already struggling will close, but I don't see many changes.

Nola folks generally like to support their local places. The small places and even Martin Wine Cellar will offer better relationships and provide generally better advise than the TW sales associate who will be programmed to push certain select products.

The customer was paying $14 in Mexico, the only place they knew about that carried it near him carried it for $52, TW started carrying it and selling it for $24.

The one in Mandeville is nowhere close to opening. I just looked in the window and it is just a gutted building but they were inside working on it.

I passed by on the way home today and thought the exact same thing. They were supposed to open tomorrow.

I was just at the newly opened one in Metairie and they said the mandeville store is still a few months off.

Today was my first time in a total wine and I’m super impressed. The prices seemed on point and had everything from table wine to 1sr cru Bordeauxs.

Only thing I didn’t understand was why make a 6L of Chateau D’Yquem. You’d have to have a 100 person wine dinner with everyone getting a glass for that to make sense, besides just having to look cool in a cellar.

Next time I need a super nice bottle for whatever reason, after I drink my Sassicaia, I’ll definitely stop in there.

oof

Gonna just own this one

Good policy is probably not posting when you are struggling to sleep and 5+ beers deep. Reading comprehension, that can be hard. My bad.

We went yesterday. The store was pretty amazing. Unreal selection and the prices were good. My low budget vodka and bottle of wine were both $1.50 or $2 less than anywhere else.
Their marketing department is the bomb with their app and rewards program. Nice touch also with having their little ad catalog arrive in the mail yesterday with a coupon for two free stemless wine glasses.

They will do well, but I still don’t think they will put any place in the Nola area out of business.
One little complaint... my wife noticed the beer display near the entrance and was excited looking at the six packs of Parish Tropics(or whatever it’s called) because of the fruit on the box. We started reading the description and saw it’s reference to coffee flavor and I quickly figured out that the sign was for their Reve beer.
I told the employee nearby of the mistake and we kept shopping. My wife watched as the employee called another employee over and pointed it out. He just shrugged his shoulders and laughed and they walked away. 30 minutes later as we were leaving, the sign was still there

Elios and Steins still have a much more diverse beer section. For sheer volume you can’t beat TW but will still go to Elios and Steins.

FWIW th thousand cans of Jucifer were all from 4/20

Look at that line. Jeesh. It's not that special. Go to Martin's people. Total will still be there next week for you to look around.

Edit: someone sent this to me. I'm not there, I'm in Houston.
