When I went yesterday (a little before 4 pm), I just breezed right on in. There was no line but there were cops directing traffic as the employees set up for the VIP Grand Opening/Tasting

I was in like. Got there at 8:20 in hopes to snag a bottle of Taylor or something hard to get. All their allocations were going to be put out for 9. There were already about 50 people ahead of me. Ended up with a bottle of Blantons, all the good stuff went really quick. Everyone was courteous however.

There is a line like that all day, every day right down the street at Trader Joe's. I used to spend about $250 a month at Trader Joe's, but not since they started the lines.

That stuff is usually what they have at the sample station. I have tried Green Spot there as well so its not all low or medium quality stuff. They will frequently have vendors set up nearby sampling their wares, too.

However, I have sampled plenty of bourbons by asking the person who is working that whiskey section. They always have a few bottles open and stashed somewhere. They will also pass along any info on allocated stuff they're aware of, including at other stores, even locally owned.

I was there at about 2:00 this afternoon. No line but it was packed inside.Lots of tasting tables set up. They even had a string trio playing. It was like a cocktail party in there. If you are in to wine, you will feel like a kid when Toys R Us first opened.

I went Sunday around 10:30, made the drive from Prairieville (45min) to go check it out and was not disappointed at all. Easily the biggest and best liquor store I've ever been too, will definitely make the drive again in a few weeks. No line, but was pretty busy inside. Prices ranged, a few things they were a little more expensive but several they were a little cheaper on.
Tons of bourbon & beer, and pretty good cigar selection. I'm not a wine guy but holy heck there were a ton.

Swung by it today, zero crowds on a Monday AM. Beer selection was okay, not stupendous. Zero ginger beers with alcohol, which is one of the things I was seeking. Zero assistance from the beardies working in beer selection. Minimal Italian whites, aside from a couple decent Etna Biancos.

Food/snacks were perfunctory, not much at all. Huge selection of bitters.....

It was fine. It is large, but I didn’t run across anything obscure that I’d never seen or heard of.

So anyone do a comparison on how much money is really saved over a local establishment that has always had good pricing on their liquor (Dorignac’s, Zuppardo, etc)?

I went through this with Walmart years ago. I would rather support the local versus a big box store. However, I am interested in hearing how much savings people are seeing when doing a comparison.

I am headed back into town and will give some feedback of this place vs martins, Elios Zappardos etc.

How much could you possibly save? Shop local.

Went this afternoon; truly awesome selection of wine/spirits. Prices on some items are good; others not so much.

Examples:
Shafer Hillside Select was $439 at Total Wine; it's about $300-$325 most places; Dominus Estate was similarly priced at $439 for another $300 bottle elsewhere.

Fortaleza Tequilas were more expensive at Total Wine than at Martin's by $8-13 a bottle.

White women wines like The Prisoner were fairly priced around $45 but probably not quite as cheap as at Costco.

Cool spot to see a bunch of wines we don't typically see but it's not replacing Costco/Martins/Dorignacs for me.

I am most interested in what bourbon they have.

Beer is usually Elios or Martins or the breweries direct but I should be able to scan through beer and bourbon pretty quickly and make an assessment

Me either. Martin's has by far the best customer service, and prices vary depending on the wine, but this place will be on my regular rotation.

Dorignacs ain’t cheap baw. Especially on high demand stuff.
But yes I’m generally going to support my local places with my lower end purchases. Which are what most of mine are

I try hard not to shop there. Sometimes something pops up in a group and I’ll go there.
