Help me understand the self-abnegation of certain white millenials?

It truly mystifies me. They excoriate themselves on social media, kowtow to fleeting causes, blindly spew self-effacing memes, disavow the right to even express critical opinions, conform, confess to sins they never committed, and genuflect at the mere spectre of political correctness.
To be clear, it is not all millenials, only a portion. But I don't recall ever witnessing anything like it. Do these people have no pride? No critical intellect? No independence of soul?
Perhaps they are simply naive and believe they are fighting for some universal principle? Perhaps they have not realized yet that all politics- every aspect of it - is about the appropriation of power. The purveyors of political correctness are not interested in some untrammeled, pure justice, they are demagogues spinning a narrative which allows them to seize the levers of government and wealth. Why do so many fall prey to the gamesmanship, even where it is against their own best interests?
I am genuinely and truly perplexed by the phenomena. Really. I have never seen so many so feverishly eager to demean themselves and sacrifice their own interests, independence, and integrity.

It’s not our fault
Y’all made us watch all those shows growing up where the white dudes were weak losers and the black kids were cool

They’re idiots with absolutely no understanding of history who have been provided a piss poor education by deluded cat ladies and raised by self indulgent boomers.

As I white millenial, I don't get it either. I think they either weren't raised right or just got hypnotized by social media. Or a combination of the two. It's sad man. They lack any skills to actually think for themselves and would rather heresay to make themselves feel 'included' with the rest of the young generation. I gave up arguing with these types. They are unfortunately a lost cause.

Hold on. I haven't finished looking up "abnegation" yet.

People wonder how people get caught up in cults and group think.
Same principles as social media. A cause, insecurities and the desire to fit in.

Really no different from your generation. Only thing is they have a platform to express their stupidity while none before did.

It's just virtue signalling.
They'll never sacrifice money or comforts for minorities.
It's just talk.

Well, technically, I think I may fall within certain definitions of "millenials," or just outside of it. But I disagree. I would like to see examples of other generations who were so ready to condemn themselves.

Did you just learn about the thesaurus today?
Posted on 6/3/20 at 4:50 pm to DmitriKaramazov
If you outdo others on conforming, then you can shame them and it makes you feel better about yourself. Think about it as a "Keeping up with the joneses" for SJW and PC
