If all this is true, we over-reacted. Why are we still doing it?

For the first time, the CDC has attempted to offer a real estimate of the overall death rate for COVID-19, and under its most likely scenario, the number is 0.26%. Officials estimate a 0.4% fatality rate among those who are symptomatic and project a 35% rate of asymptomatic cases among those infected, which drops the overall infection fatality rate (IFR) to just 0.26% — almost exactly where Stanford researchers pegged it a month ago. … Ultimately, we might find out that the IFR is even lower because numerous studies and hard counts of confined populations have shown a much higher percentage of asymptomatic cases. Simply adjusting for a 50% asymptomatic rate would drop their fatality rate to 0.2% – exactly the rate of fatality Dr. John Ionnidis of Stanford University projected.

Health experts have noted that the faster the disease spreads and hits its peak, the fewer people will die.

So why are some places still locked down? Why are some still wearing masks and disinfecting everything they touch?

Fear. Virtue signaling. Wanting to trash the economy before the election. Other reasons?

I think that pretty much covers it.

As long as OMB is in the Whitehouse progfilth and MSM will continue to attempt to disrupt society.....and then blame it on OMB.

With a total fatality rate of 0.26% and a US population of over 330 million, you're looking at ~860,000 dead if everyone got infected.

Granted, no way 100% infection rate, but nobody gets re-elected with even 500,000 deaths.

I dont want to hijack this topic, but one major thing people should take away from this pandemic is that any model you see is complete bullshite. Whether it be forecasted deaths, global warming, or financial; they are all wrong. They can only take into account the data that is known or "accepted" by the modeler.

Models can guide you as to what decisions to make, but yiu should never take a model for face value.

The problem in this day and age is that politicians, the media, and people will look at a model as fact and use it to try to pass whatever agenda they have planned.

I really hope this pandemic will show people that models aren't to be taken exact.

And I stress this for global warming.

Tried to have a logical conversation on r/arkansas last week about our state. We have 120 deaths in a state of 3.3 million. Our state loses 8200 a year due to heart disease. Fat people everywhere. The reddit tards DO NOT CARE about any other deaths than Corona. They think 120 is a massive amount despite a dropping infection rate and low amounts of hospitalizations. They blame it all on the governor and stupid "goptards".

Theres nothing short of a full immunity that will change their minds.

Panic and mass hysteria has a way of spreading rapidly. Once the dominoes began falling, it spiraled out of control.
