Truly surprised at the number of people on here who know someone who has died from it

As much as the OT would like to discredit the #s, we are getting close to 100,000 deaths from it.
Not that surprising given how many people post here

Yes, two people I’ve worked with over the years have both passed away from it. Both were late 50’s.

A guy I work with had it. Picked it up from his nurse roommate. He's about 30, slim, white, seemingly healthy guy otherwise. It hit him like a hard flu. Fever, aches, and stuck in bed for about 3 days or so, effects for about 6-8. He seems to be a hard worked and we're working from home and he works OT most weeks so I know he's not just a vag.
He said it sucked pretty bad, but after about 10 days he was working 10 hour days behind a computer again.
So, a pretty severe flu is how he described it.

I don't either. I do know an older colleague and I asked him if he knew any one who had it. He somewhat sadly said yes he did. He said he passed away. Then he told me the guy who caught the virus was 92 years old.

Still statistically shocking how manY people on this single website know somebody
If I posted a thread “how many people know someone who had a .02% chance of this happening etc”, I feel it would be so rare for someone to chime in

I know 3. One had no symptoms but was tested because his wife is in healthcare and she had it. Another friend he caught it and had mind symptoms. Slight fever, tired, chills. A lady I know had a rough time with it but recovered fine. None hae any unlying health issues.

My Neice’s Father-in-law Law died from it two weeks ago. He’s is from a new Jersey. The poor man was on the vent for five weeks until he died. Evidently, he was conscious. They would try to remove the vent every day and he simply could not breathe. They used FaceTime for his family to communicate with him. His poor wife would beg him to breathe and he could not. What I’ve heard is that he died a horrific death.

Everyone I know "definitely had it in january or february"
Glad the democrats wrote "corona" on the flu tests this year so they can impeach trump

Seen a lot of patients with it. All who have died have had comorbidities or elderly or both.

NOLA was also hit pretty hard. Think you might be underestimating how many people you know/have met over the years.

Coworker, her husband, and her mother had it. The mother died, but this was an older coworker.
The husband of another coworker had it as well. He also lived but he’s a. You get guy in good shape and apparently it was hell.
And the. A third coworkers older in laws. I think they pulled through but we’re hospitalized

.02% of this nation has died from this
Zero point zero two percent
That is almost statistically zero, yet this one website all know someone it seems
Either tigerdroppings is God himself, or people lie

I had it. Got sick the day after the national championship game and was sick for over a month. Only missed 1 day of work. I was diagnosed with flu even though the stat test came back negative. My antibody test came back positive after the fact.

4 total. One in 20s and one in 30s. Both healthy. Very minor symptoms (loss of smell/taste and bouts of shortness of breath, respectively).
Married couple in late 50s, maybe early 60s. Significant flu like symptoms for two weeks. Felt very ill with some breathing issues. Never hospitalized or really close to that.

Many people just don't have a good grasp of probability.
0.02% is 1 in 5,000 people. So not only should there be several people here who know someone who died from it, odds are several people who posted here in the past have died from it themselves.

You missed a great opportunity to drop a “defiantly” in place of “definitely.”

Yes a former professor. It was bad for him for a few days then he got better. But then he got worse again and passed away about a week later. Yeah he had some health issues.
