When the same stuff you bring home says to refrigerate after opening?
Posted on 4/25/20 at 5:31 pm to PrivatePublic
Because the packets aren’t open?

Mustard says that too
It's called cya.
You don't have to refrigerate either.

Rats. I just gave my chef, sous chef, and the kitchen staff the weekend off, otherwise I’d get a quick answer. Excited to devour one of those (what I would usually find ghastly) frozen pizzas tonight!

Cause they have hundreds of customers a day and go through it really quick.

I'm obviously talking fine dining like Chilis or Outback.

are you 5, ketchup is for kids ? Refrigerating the stuff makes it worse. Do you refrigerate mustard and hot sauces too, they recommend refrigeration ?

Vinegar will keep damn near anything from spoiling.
Posted on 4/25/20 at 5:33 pm to PrivatePublic
Because cold ketchup tastes like crap on tater tots.

I love ketchup cold

A good seafood place always has one of those big mayonnaise squirt bottles full of tartar sauce.

Same reason why restaurants leave opened bottles of ketchup on the table
The acidity keeps it shelf stable.

Damn.
Brain farted that response.
The real reason is that you are told to refrigerate for quality purposes, not micro/food safety.
Restaurants go through so much ketchup it’s not an issue.

Adult males shouldn't be consuming ketchup
That stuff is for five year olds

The ketchup you see in the Hienz bottle isn’t really Hienz Ketchup either.
Think about that.
They refill those Heinz bottles daily with cheap generic ketchup.
