99% of people use it wrong.

They don’t realize that the direction of the spin for the strings makes a huge difference in your trims

Also, they have no clue about type of string and why it matters

All true, but a lot of the issues are because they started make cheap crap for homeowners to lower the price point. They make like 6 different sting diameters and there’s no reason for that outside of smaller crap that doesn’t work properly is cheaper.

i bought a Honda 4-stroke about 10 years ago. Had been buying the cheap homelites about every 2 years. Honda has been dependable and don’t need to mix oil. Always use the ethanol-free TruFuel. Ethanol free from a gas station will still have some ethanol in it because they don’t wash out the delivery tankers.

I bought a Stihl like 5 years ago and run Truefuel and it’s cured me of having to yell at my weed eater. If it acts up, I’m throwing it away and handing Stine $200 or whatever it was for another one.

Suit yourself. I’ll never own another weed eater that isn’t battery powered.

I'll side with frustrating.

I own all Echo and they still are a PITA.

-Fancy quick fill head is still a hit or miss when the line winds on itself in the head. I use the high performance 4 sided line from Echo.
-After a few years the carb diaphragm and/or purge bulb fail. These components are limited life due to fuel exposure.
-My stick edger seems to go through blades often. Tried the higher end ones from Echo to no avail.
-If you need one $0.50 part nobody stocks it and the shipping costs more than the part.

Thinking about trying the Makita 18V system as I have that platform in battery power but most of my beef is with the string system but at least that would eliminate my gas engine troubles.

BTW all my trimmers are run with no ethanol fuel from a local station that has a dedicated tank and individual dispenser so no ethanol contamination.

I got an Echo attachment series and only run the red armor pre-mixed fuel through it. Had it a couple years and always starts on a few pulls from a cold start.

You own a piece of shite. Get a commercial for $300 or spend $100 bucks yearly.

I'd say the leaf blower myself, although that is a close second.

99% of the problems I see when handheld power equipment comes in for service is user error.

Like anything else take care of your equipment and it will take care if you.
