No love for DJ Welter?
That guy was an all time great at jumping on a pile 5 seconds after the play ended

Was Devin White even classified as a Mike?

Yeah that was a hell of game he played that day.
I’d take Kelvin Shepard or Bradie James over Beckwith though

WHITE! LSU has had a lot of great LB'S over the years! Devin was special!

Devin White was by far the best LB (including both MLB and OLB positions) to ever play at LSU. Beckwith is in the pack behind him along with a whole bunch of other greats that have come through the program

I agree, Kevin Minter was solid at MLB.

When healthy I agree. He and Devin were 2 different types of players who were made different physically.
Devin could blitz better and was much faster sideline to sideline. Beck had great all around game and was a thumper and rock in the middle. When Bama would run power at Devin he couldn’t hold up like Beckwith could

K. Beckwith at DE as a freshman under Chavis. lol
DJ Welter playing over Beckwith for 1.5yrs. Lol
What a horrible LB coach Chavis turned out to be. D.Jones never playing much until later in his career. lol
The answer to this thread is D.White. Not even close

You could have lined Devin White at MLB, ILB in a 3-4, OLB in 4-3 or strong safety and with the exception of Jamal Adams, he would be the best player at that position the last 20 years.

The best LB at LSU, imo, was Kwon Alexander. But when Devin White got there it was over!

Agree with you that Michael Brooks needs to be considered in the conversation of LSU’s greatest LB ever. I get the love for Devin White and all I know is both Brooks and White could arguably be the best LB ever, then all the rest are a far cry behind those two. I am truly surprised that you were the first to mention Brooks this was after the thread reached three pages. Must be a bunch of posters that never saw Brooks play.

I think the world of Kendall, and he perhaps had the greatest amount of separation ever between the his talent and the talent that preceded him at the position, but he is not the best ever.
Kendall was a great run stuffer. Others had better overall games.

quote:Yes. I’ve seen Beck and Devin together.
Faster for sure but have you ever seen Beckwith bro? He’s one big SOB.
Beckwith at LSU was 6’2-1/2” 243
Devin at LSU was 6’ 250lb. He stepped on
Campus at 260
He slimmed down to 240 to run a 4.42
I love Beckwith and followed him for years but Devjns just different
