I am telling my age, and it was a different age of football but Warren Capone was badass back in the early 70's. Those guys were so much smaller back then.

Minter was such a stud. Beck with as well. I’ve never seen anyone look like they are shot out of a cannon to meet a RB or QB on the edge more than D White. He always knew where the ball was going.

Beckwith was a stud but he isn’t even on the same planet as white. Bringing up that bama game when Stupid Leslie Miles kept forcing dj welter in the game is a horrible example of why you think beckwith was better. Welter may of been the worst linebacker to ever play at lsu. I don’t think he made a single play his entire career. Beckwith was phenomenal but when he was replaced by White in the bowl game against Louisville that defense got even better with white on the field.

Don’t see picking anyone over Bradie James.

Kevin Minter's 2012 season was better than any season by White, Beckwith, or Sheppard.

The problem is based on your criteria you can't us a linebacker from a 3-4 defense, because they aren't playing
a true middle linebacker. Beckwith became a really good player, considering it took him a year and a half to realize he had to play his position and couldn't just go for the ball like he did in high school.

Thankfully we have had a number or really good linebackers, which is remarkable considering how many of these came in as undersized and not extremely highly rated/recruited.

Yeah, no. White was better at everything. From speed, sideline-to-sideline ability, athleticism, playmaking ability and instincts. White is easily the best MLB at LSU I've seen in my lifetime. He was like Debo's heatseeking missile ability x2. I see White come across the field to make plays that should've been impossible for a guy his size. I would say White not playing this past season showed more than any other position. Phillips was a great LB when White was around but he was pretty average this NC run not to mention LB for much the season was a major hole in our defense before they put it together at the end.
