Strongly held political views are usually a reflection of a person's values and overall way of viewing the world. Dating is one thing, but I wouldn't try to have a serious relationship with someone who had political views that were strongly opposed to my own.

Aligned values are extremely important. If we were both opposite side political extremists, there is no way in hell we’d last long.
Honestly, my wife and I don’t associate fully with any party but do tend to vote differently. We do have similar values though. Surprisingly, we pretty much disagree with the extremes of both parties.

Wife and I have differing political views and we get along great. Not sure I could stay around though if she was a Trump fan. Stupidity is a huge turnoff.
