Pulled or pinched something in back and neck area that is causing an excruciating amount of pain.

I’m confident that in time my symptoms will subside but in terms of availability, I can see a Chiropractor today vs. am Ortho doctor in weeks.

Is there relief to be gained by seeing the Chiropractor today?

In terms of what I am doing, I have applied a TENs unit, heating pad and ice. Getting older sucks and maybe my pain tolerance level isn’t what it once was, but this is awful. I feel uneven and my head rests to one side when sitting or standing due to the pain and I am not able to lift my shoulder or twist my body.

Go see a PT. Combination of manual therapy and dry needling will do the trick.

Be real careful which Chiro you see. Some are good but a lot will mess you up worse.

Yes chiropractic treatment actually works. I was skeptical for years until I went once about 5 years ago. Now I go whenever I Have a sore shoulder, neck or back.

They can’t do shite for you if you have a herniated disc. But most other things than can give you immediate relief.

Most aren’t seeing patients though.

If you’re in BR call Spine & Sports Rehab. They are great.

sounds like cervical herniated disc. not much a chiropractor can do but they'll sure say they can. Time and nsaid like ibuprofen work. I've had a lot of experience with a herniated cervical disc.

In my case of recurrent and chronic lower back pain, yes it was worth it for 1 to 3 days of relief. My chiropractor was also a physical therapist and that helped.

I would not let them do the neck manipulation or "crack your neck" whatever it's called. That has some risk of causing more problems than it solves.

Orthopedic docs are surgeons I'd try some other type first that specializes in back or neck pain.

Good luck that pain is a MFer.

Many here will shite all over chiropractors. I'm not one of them.

However, I preface this conversation every time with, "Find a GOOD chiropractor."

There are many who are shite, there are some who believe they are miracle workers, then there are others who simply try to help people, and they can.

If the one you choose doesn't suggest x-rays right away, pick another. They can adjust you on your first visit, but they should x-ray or refer you for an MRI of the problem area.

I don't shite on chiropractors because I had a great one for years. He knew what he could and couldn't do. Hell, the guy who was his mentor adjusted my dad one day prior to a scheduled back surgery that would have put him flat on his back for 2 months and altered his life forever, and my dad canceled the surgery the next morning. He continued seeing that doc and when the one took over his practice we continued seeing him for years. My Pops never had that back surgery. He went at least once a month for an adjustment, or when he had an issue.

Our chiropractor ended up being a great friend. He even made house calls for us from time to time. He passed away shortly before my Pops passed a few years ago, and I haven't tried to find a new chiropractor yet.

Find a GOOD chiropractor. He/she will help you, but they are not miracle workers.

I went to a chiropractor for lower back pain. Best decision I made. For me, it was a God send in terms of getting rid of the pain

If my Chiropractor sends me to the Orthopedic Surgeon, then I go. Make sure you have good one through personal referrals.

Forget a chiro, buy a $100 inversion table. If it’s a herniated disc, as mine was, you will feel immediate relief.

Find a good one and go to them for immediate relief. Long term I would find a PT. But I’ve been where you are now and felt 100% better after having a chiropractor adjust me. I just wouldn’t do that long term. And as many have said make sure you find a good one if so.

TLDR: quick fix to ease pain more immediately use a chiropractor, long term find a good PT. Good luck

Does the Ortho have a PA? If so see if you can get an appointment with the PA sooner. The PA can get the test and meds you need.
