The Curve Has Been Flattened Then What

What exactly are we looking for to re-open society, and give the all clear? Let’s take Louisiana for example. I expect the number of cases to continue to rise through all of next week to the the tune of +700 +1000 a day. At the end of next Sunday let’s say we start to see the dip in the curve. Two weeks go by and the dip gets lower new cases go from the +700 to only +70 +40. The government reopens everything based off their success in flattening the curve.
A month goes by and all of a sudden people start getting infected again in big surpluses. What now? Shut everything down again? My opinion is at some point you got to let this virus run its course or maybe their logic is they will be better prepared for the second wave with treatments, new facilities online, etc.

Herd immunity was the right call; too bad nobody had the balls to do it.

There's actually a 1000 page thread on this.
Were you aware?
It's right above this post actually.

They don't know is the answer.
Like dumbasses, they just charged ahead with no plan, no endgame.
Now, no government can do shite for fear of getting roasted over every single person who dies after restrictions lifted.
This is an absolute mess.
Will go down as biggest boondoggle in modern history.

“Flattening the curve” is a scam.
It’s done to make the outbreak last longer.

We go to the mitigation strategy that the S Koreans are doing. Or, we could just lie like China.

People think that we should shut down shop for extended months have zero clue how the US economy works. There will be a point of no return. What then? the amount of dead from the collapse of the economy would far surpass the virus long term.
That being said, I think you have a phased reopening depending on the hot spots. Being I am in St. Tammany, I am screwed thanks to New Orleans but I would expect say North Louisiana to be open or something like that.

Secondary spike is obviously the next thing to happen.

I seriously doubt you'll ever seen the curver "flatten out" as you call it.
For the time being it's far easier to control the population by never admitting that it's gotten "better."
Sadly the situation we're in now is the new normal.
Brace for acceptance.

Ideally, once we’re sitting “flat” with real time testing available and production of PPE, medical equipment, and meds in full swing and able to keep up, we start to open the economy back up.

This thread doesn’t understand what flattening the curve is.......
The whole point Is it’s a delaying tactic to give the medical community enough time to prepare

I am also concerned about what happens when small business owners and employees say F it, we are going back to work regardless of what the gub’ment says.

with a flattening and subsequent decrease, youll see certain areas slowly reopen.
What should probably happen ASAP is antibody testing on a massive scale so we can send those people back out working like normal

We should have rapid testing by then to quickly quarantine those needed and hopefully enough masks for the general public to wear. This won’t be a popular post right now but that is what would help
the most to get us back going IMO (other than successful treatments and/or vaccination).

With the limited testing, none of the numbers mean much to me.

Flattening the curve simply keeps medical resources from being strained beyond capacity - - thus buying time for vaccine to o be developed. That is it

It's an interesting question, because you've got governor's announcing month long shutdowns over 90 hospitalizations and 2 deaths. If that is the threshold for a month long shutdown then I don't know how we ever move forward.
The federal government needs to come out with clearer guidelines for the states to follow that allow healthy people to work unless there's a rapidly escalating outbreak like NYC or NOLA

The only way to end this is for elderly to stay in and enough younger folk get this and become immune to insulate the greater public. Waiting for a cure is laughable.
The only reason we shut down the economy is because the fake news would use it as a political weapon against Trump. So he had to shut it down to beat them at their game. They are killing the economy but losing the political game. Now he has to poll the public and wait for them to get tired of this b.s. before he can open it back up and not have anyone care about the fake news media bs bc they are tired of staying in. About 2 more weeks i would guess.

No matter what action was taken people would be bitching about it. If absolutely nothing was done and then more people than usual start dying from "some type of virus" all of sudden then people would be saying "the government knew about it and did absolutely nothing to protect us".
But now since they are taking action everyone is all up in arms about it and think its some type of conspiracy.
And can you provide me a link to show that the curve has been flattened? Not to mention, you think once it does flatten the best thing to do is immediately "go back to normal"? That would only allow it to start spreading again. 3 months later they will be shutting shite down again. I rather them get this shite under control, don't rush it just to get people back to normal just because people are unhappy. I'd rather give up a few more weeks than have to shut shite down 3 months later for another month or so.
