My wife wanted Chinese last night. We called a couple of places that were open for takeout but they have now closed.
Cathay Imperial and Royal China in Metairie.

Might be a blessing in disguise.

Royal china worries me. Husband wants to retire and wife still wants to work. So they have made it this far. I hope they reopen.

Bravo in Metairie closed for good this week.
Not a big loss, but I figured they might have had the corporate support to keep it open.
Anyone know the details of how the stimulus bills will help the small local restaurants/bars?

Bravos Metairie is no longer even listed on the national Bravo website. There must have already been declining numbers for them to shut it down completely while others remain open. It’s smack in the middle of one of the highest densities of quality Italian restaurants in America: Impastatos, Andreas, Fausto’s, Sandros, Giorlandos, Vincent’s, Filippo, Fury's. It’s surprising it lasted as long as it did.

I've noticed this. It's not just Chinese places either. Ben's Burgers, several others, etc. Several restaurants that were doing take out or delivery are now "temporarily closing". I guess they figured their employees could make more on unemployment and/or the margins weren't enough to keep inventory and pay the skeleton crews that were still there.

Yep. Several tried to make the take out thing work for a week, but now most are shutting down after this weekend.
When the most popular restaurant in the city can't even make it a week on just take out orders, you know it is rough.

I'm seeing the same in my community. We have a few places that were opened for to-go orders that had closed. A few just closed out right (hopefully temporary) and a few more that do 95% takeout anyway are jumping right along. Our 1 biggest restaurant is still doing business but they are closed from 1-4.

If Miss Shirley is alive that place ain't closing down. Food is great and she is the nicest lady imaginable.

Im sure like other small businesses they can qualify for SBA loans where a portion of the loan is forgiven.

I expect it's a better business decision for many to shutter temporarily, let the employees draw unemployment, and open up with less of a loss once the storm blows through.

I had the same luck with my local Chinese restaurants.
P.F. Chang’s in Nola closing for good too.

Happening here as well. But some of the places that are shutting down to pick up and delivery are working off of donations to ensure that people affected by this have meals and are donating lots of meals per day to people that need them

My wife and I went to that Bravos several months back with a gift card. It was not very busy and the food was below average and the server sucked.
I had been hearing since then that it has been steadily declining.

My guess is that many places initially did the take-out thing to run through remaining product
