You can thank all of the retards that voted for anyone other than a Republican in 2018. The fact is that Dim votes are required to pass anything and that means they will get some of their demands, especially with the lack of accountability the press demands of them.

Irony....is now listening to fricking Chris Cooms say on the floor of the Senate what Republicans have been saying since Saturday and Sunday....it's like we are living in a fantasy land.

Exactly...the biggest enabler for the Dems is the media. They are dishonest and never report the truth of the matter. The Dems know this and have pocket Aces on every playing field.

My assumption that the Republicans are even against all the pork is likely false.
Serious question: is expecting bills to be “clean” even realistic? Or is that just something us “naive voters” expect?
Seems like this could’ve been handled with a much smaller bill by adding funding to existing programs. But alas, no.

How did your State Senate and State House members vote on this and what did they say about it?
Cause they are who we vote in to make decisions for us.

Nothing new for the GOP. When you are desperate because no matter what, you are going to be blamed for the economic problems, you don’t have much ability to negotiate anything. This is a losing situation for the Republicans no matter what happens. The Democrats had nothing to lose and will win this like they always do.

It was insanely stupid to do this stimulus bill with the bill to pay people who are out of work due directly to the virus. The payments should have been done immediately and separately, and should have incentivized people to stay home for the proper duration. Another bill should have been drawn up for businesses. Having it all on the same bill does a couple of things. It allows for the negotiation for nonessential pet projects in exchange for votes. Secondly, the delay was ultimately pointless. The Republicans, by virtue of doing one bill, felt forced to accept silly stuff, because of the need to pass any bill. Thirdly, I don't think a 1200 dollar payment is going to even begin to make up for the lost income that this crisis has caused.

Trump has the nations attention. All he had to do was bash the dems publicly for what they are doing.

What the frick happened today? Last I saw Nancy came on and made a statement they were going to go with the Senate bill and get that signed.

You're not wrong....but you can't start talking about all the shite you are going to do about the problem (checks, payroll tax cut, etc) in the press conference before the bill even gets started if your going to take a wait and see approach (which would have been right here).
sad but true.
Trump has sat on stage daily telling people checks would be mailed in 2 weeks.
You going to set that back two weeks and hope the country understands because you were fighting for a clean bill?
Most Americans don't give a damn about giving 25m to the Kennedy Center.
Sad but that's the truth

If the past few weeks have taught me anything, 40% of the nation is dialed in to facts, and the other 60% think the bigger to stimulus package is, the more help for Americans
Posted on 3/25/20 at 7:49 pm to SportTiger1
I'd perhaps describe it more like 40% dialed into the finer details, while 60% are thinking "just do what the hell y'all gotta do to get it done...and immediately." Immediately being the operative word.
