I guess after seeing the economic impact on this grand of a level I can now say that I can put a price on a human life.
This is insane.
I’m sorry and i feel terrible that people will succumb to this, but I just can’t fathom shutting down this economy on this level for this rate of death.
We lose 20,0000 - 30,000 a year to influenza
Lord knows how many a year from gun violence
A shite ton from traffic accidents
Etc.
You take precautions. You help as many as you can, but you don’t crater the financial well being of the other 329,900+ that will be left after this done.
$21.44 trillion dollar economy- shut down for 3 months that’s essentially $8 trillion.
$8 trillion for 60,000?
Nope nope nope
This is insane.

Im not sure you understand. The issue is not the death rate WITH the mitigations. The issue is what will happen if we don't take these steps you are complaining about.
The number you need to look at is the percent of people who require intensive care to survive and recover. That number is astronomical. If the ICUs get overwhelmed you have Italy. Understand?

“If it saves just one life” thinking taken to extremes.
We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

I really think the bubble was getting ready to pop anyway and the Chinese Virus is a cover to blame it on .

Those were in my 100,000- 200,000 worst case deaths.
Hell I would go as pretty high above that to say shut it ALL DOWN

The Hand Formula was hard to swallow for a lot of my law school classmates. I bought it pretty quickly. A thorn in the side of ambulance chasers. Essential for a free society.

Elderly and sickly should self isolate and we feed and support them and keep things going. Social distancing light and washing hands. This shut down is bull shite.

It appears much like cutting off your leg because you have an ingrown toenail.

I am not even sure if at even a death toll of 1,000,000 with 90%+ being elderly or pre-existing conditions those lives are worth the costs we are seeing. I am about as pro-life as one can be, but at what cost? We will likely see more people die from the resulting poverty than we will the disease itself if we don't turn this around and avoid a second great depression.

This has a good deal that do with Russia and our good friends Saudi Arabia too. Don't think that doesn't have as big an impact on what you are seeing.

Not to mention those 60k have underlying conditions or are elderly and will be dead in 5 years anyway.
We used to exile our elderly. Now we spend excessive amounts of money keeping them alive unnecessarily.

Theres this myth that only people old as frick or with massive health issues are requiring ICU beds and ventilators. That's not the case. I'm not a Trump guy but he is doing the right thing here as are the local and state governments issuing these orders.

Cuomo used that argument earlier today.
Anyone that is not ruled by emotions knows that is absolute bullshite.

Guess we have to pick our poison: overrun hospitals or overrun with joblessness and homelessness.

New Hampshire has it right, Live Free or Die. Right now we are doing neither.
