If this entire episode is this ... I thought the entire episode was going to be a jail rap

Charlamagne and the ending was awesome. Great season. Was expecting greatness from the first episode and it started a little slower than I expected but wow the past 5 or so episodes have been outstanding.

That last rap was sick.

Another episode where the emotional roller coaster hits hard..
I let out an audible sigh when Dave texts Ally about the Hulu password and she’s typing... stops.. and gives a thumbs up on the message... BRUTAL
And then Dicky showed up and showed out with the freestyle and seeing Gata just getting hype AF ... great finale ..

I love that he takes the time to try to explain the rage part of it away in the same text.

I love this damn show. Wish the episodes were an hour long. Can’t get enough.

Great finale but I wanna hear the whole song lol I'm so glad he didn't do it at the breakfast club
C tha god was acting like a bitch. Woulda ended his career after hearing that lol
Instead wised up and did a freestyle that seemed to win him over and I imagine a lot of new fans
After being a bit of a dick that whole episode he did the right thing for Mike and Gata. Thank god lol

I’m sure “Jail” will be on his new album, and that freestyle was incredible.
What a hell of a first season.

I'm not suge knight
The hiking shite scene had me dying too. I've been a fan of his for a while and had high expectations for this show. His creativity translated to the scripts better than I thought it would.
Incredible season all around.

The jail rap was fricking amazing. I need to hear the entire thing . This show is fantastic all around. Funny, smartly written, and heart felt at times. Dave nailed it

I thought the entire episode might be some dark Mr. Robot style shite. Then it pulled back and Dave crushes it with his Gata explanation. I thought we might get some kind of early version of Molly there at the end, but instead a sick arse freestyle.
Can’t wait for season 2.

do we think that "pillow talking" is the jail song being referred to? he actually went on the breakfast club and rapped at about the time this was happening and i think the verse(s) he did was essentially "bruh"
wonder if he was gonna debut pillow talking or something but decided not to. maybe this is all a terrible thought and im not sure if the timeline adds up in any way. lot of parallels, though.

Dave Burd (stage name Lil Dicky) has successfully parlayed his strong online following into television success — most of which comes from digital viewing. The rapper-comedian’s new FX comedy series Dave has been a breakout hit, averaging 4.8 million viewers per episode for its five episodes to date across linear, video-on-demand and streaming viewing (most current).
That ranks as the second-largest average audience of any season of an FX Networks comedy, just behind the first season of Atlanta (5.2 million). Given its growth trajectory — Dave‘s average audience per episode has increased by 1.2 million viewers in the past two weeks, having averaged 3.6 million total viewers on March 20 — the show is on track to eclipse Atlanta‘s tally soon.
Under normal circumstances, such a strong ratings performance five episodes in would’ve triggered a second-season renewal. But the current circumstances are far from normal, with all Hollywood production shut down indefinitely amid the coronavirus pandemic. Given the uncertainty, FX brass are likely taking a wait-and-see approach, but Dave is expected to get a pickup as soon as networks and studios have an idea when production would be safe to resume.
