This tornado is really a reminder of the importance of having a good way (or multiple good ways) to get warnings. Tornado sirens cannot be heard by many people (unless you are nearby them or are outside), particularly when they are asleep. Weather radio alarms and the built in alerts on your phone will scare you to death when they go off in the middle of the night, but they certainly do their job. I wish everyone would see that having a NOAA weather radio in your home is right there with having good smoke detectors in terms of importance.

Leave it to an Alabama poster to highlight this. Y'all know a thing or two about nocturnal tornadoes.

Very, very familiar with nighttime severe weather events. When we have an overnight severe weather event, I have my portable weather radio and my phone (with severe weather alerts) right beside my bed.

Man, that's hard to watch. My parents live off of Plunk Whitson Rd which got crushed. I live in Knoxville and am not overly familiar with that area outside of the route I take when I come visit, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the clip. I got emotional today thinking about how close it was for them being gone in the blink of an eye and for everyone dealing with losses & having to pick up the pieces from it. Is everyone you know in the area O.k?

The area you see is off Highway 56. That's the road that takes you to Cummins Falls State Park if you've ever been there.

There's just no way you survive the destruction of some of those houses. Simply nothing left. 77 still missing. These numbers are gonna be bad. They've only searched the houses that are still standing so far.

Yeah, my folks live North of town. One of my best friends recently moved out of on of the neighborhoods you see in that video. So crazy.

Lot of them folks in Putnam Co. didn't have a chance. No where to run or hide from that.

And add the fact that it hit at 2AM

I would be shitting a major brick if I was up in a construction crane as an F4 twister came by.

I would assume they were working around the clock. You'd have thought someone would get them down with bad weather in the area but who knows.

I know. Tornado warnings were already out for counties bordering Davidson to the west that were headed right for them. You'd think he would have been told to shut it down and climb off the rig

Your post was funny and I regretfully chuckled but I’m giving a downvote based on premise

I was on the ground 2 days after the Joplin Missouri F5 tornado. It is incredible at the amount of destruction these things create. I don't know if Nashville homes have basements like Alot of towns in Tornado alley. I know it seems safer to be car than out of it. But the cars looked like they were dropped off of a skyscraper

Some of them were holding out for property values to keep going up and then cash out. Now they're screwed. I feel for them

Our of state investors have apparently already been reaching out to folks asking them to sell. Can confirm people I know in East have received calls. Pretty scummy.

Another crazy pic out of Putnam county. This is not tin roof. This is a heavy duty construction beam wrapped around a tree.

Learned of another death about 1/2 hour ago. So very sad.

Please pray for the parents that lose their little ones to tragedies like this.

That’s a frame of a pre-engineered building wrapped around the tree. I can see the column leg in the bottom of the pic. The long portion seems to be either roof purlins or wall girts, as they do not appear to be very thick. The rest of that building’s structure is somewhere else beside in that pic.

Still an incredible pic, nonetheless.
