Im sure this is a dumb question, but say we win the SEC in bball and baseball. Can we say we won all 3 in the same year?

To me, football season is the start of the sports calendar and the CWS is the end

Would that be a Tiger Grand Slam?

If LSU Basketball won a championship, I would literally go find Bigfoot and play tummy sticks with him.

Might as well. The school year starts in the fall. College athletics might as well follow the same calendar.

Very tough with only 7 rotational players

Mostly guards. And only 1 that can really shoot

If Watford or say Charles Manning turn into Godzilla, you might have a sweet 16 team there

The academic year starts in the fall. I don’t know how else you would do it than academic year. All the players across sports stay in their classification until the following fall.

But what school can boast top 25 teams from all 3 prominent sports?

Florida is usually the only one. Texas some years. Throw in Virgina and FSU which I'm sure have done it a couple of times.

No true PG isn’t going to win the tournament. Ceiling is sweet 16 and their isn’t any shame in that to be honest.

Can your team go on extended winning streaks? That’s what determines if you can run through a tournament and Wade has proven his teams can for two straight years now. We def have a shot.

If LSU gets some favorable matchups in their bracket, ceiling could be Elite 8. I agree with the lacking of a true PG hurting us. Along with depth (if we get in foul trouble, we're toast), and lack of consistent 3-point shooting.

Would be a huge plus if we see more minutes and continued improvement from Hyatt as a 3-point threat.

Tony Delk and Gerry McNamara come to mind as non traditional point guards who’ve led national title winning teams.

05-06 rotation had even less depth and while there’s not a dynamic big baby/tyrus thomas 1-5 overall is more of a scoring threat.

With that said I’m 100% in agreement that we need more minutes from Hyatt (who seems to be coming along) and we need 1/3 smart days or Hyatt to start making 3s from game to game. Every now and then one of those will hit a groove from deep only the next game to go 0-4.

It is not that Smart can't handle the PG position and win big at LSU. It is stringing 4-6 games in a row at the RIGHT time that is the challenge. One bad night for Smart and it is OVER probably!

but LSU has EVERY bit of a chance at this thing as anyone else.

The ELITE teams have more talent and bodies, but LSU's front lien is freaking dominant!! I said it earlier in an another thread, Lester just said it, Watford has to become an Elite PF over the next several weeks Possible

I still think a player like Cassius Winston will be our undoing in the tourney! But i believe in Smart...he certainly has the talent. Just gotta play great for 4-6 games in a row!

A win on Wednesday and Saturday and an Auburn win at home over Kentucky and LSU is two full games ahead of the rest of the SEC.

What helps is we have Mays to steady the ship when Smart starts to breakdown. Wade admitted a lot of Smarts problems are his doing. Just like last season with Waters he’s changing the way Smart naturally plays the game and doing that during a season will cause problems. Wade said the difference between the two players is that Waters didn’t care if he pissed Wade off he was gonna do things his way and Smart is more of a pleaser and wants to do it just as Wade wants him to. He’s been much better over the last month, his averages since SEC play started, 15ppg, 3.8ast, 2.2TO while shooting 54.1% from 2, 34.2% from 3 and 91.7% from the line. He’s figuring it out, we’ll be fine.

Btw: we do need Bishop to see more minutes. Playing 2 guards the entire game isn’t a good idea. Wade needs to trust our bench more.
