I would go for the 4-10s and alternate my weeks so they would be M-Th one week, then Tu-F the next. 4 day weekend every other week.

I'd still have to "work" that day off, but I can at least just deal with the issues & emails around my schedule

I work 4-10s and if I do go in on Friday, it’s for maybe a couple of hours. It’s awesome

ETA: 6-4:30

The job I had in 2011 I was able to get a 12-10-10-8 schedule approved. I went in at 6am. So on Thursdays I was off at 2pm and didn’t come back until Monday at 6am. IT. WAS. HEAVEN

I work 4-10s currently with the option to work on Friday with OT pay if I ever want some extra cash. It's great and is definitely spoiling me.

I've done both. I think I would like four 9s and a 4 on Friday.

Four 10s left little time for outdoor activities during the week. I'd rather have a little fun all week than just the weekends.

4 10s and it would be awesome if I could choose which day I take off each week.

I worked 4 10s a few years back, but I also had an hour commute, so those 4 days SUCKED as they were more like 4 12s with the commute. But then I got to skip commuting (and work) altogether every Friday so it was always worth it.

It just gives you so much more flexibility to get errands done, plan vacations, etc.

4 10s with Wednesdays off. Only have to work two days in a row. Sounds great

Both would be better than my schedule now.

I would go 4-10. Reduce the fuel and effort wasted commuting for that extra day. Use the extra day to take care of other nonsense.

This. I can have a 4 day weekend and only take 10hrs of PTO/Vacation.

In an office job, the 10 hour days get kind of long. I stopped doing that several years ago and just go for the 9/80 schedule which gives me every other Friday off.

Huge fan of the 9-9s schedule with half your employees off every Friday, its IMO the perfect combo for employers and employees. You still have half your work force there on the off day so there's no major scheduling issues.

But your employees also get a 3 day weekend every other weekend.

The true benefit of 4-10s though is places with bad traffic, as your employees in the long run can save 4+ hours a paycheck of commuting with those 2 days off. That's a lot of freaking time over a year.

I work too damn much. Usually 11 hours per day M-Th, then 8-9 on Friday.
