Is Braxxton’s 100th day at school really a big deal?

I guess it’s cool that moms are taking an interest or whatever, but the social media feed has been filled with people making t-shirts celebrating their kids going to school for 100 days.

What the frick is this shite? Some subtle brag that your child isn’t a degenerate truant?

Dear fricking Facebook... FFS

I really have grown to hate Facebook. All these kid pictures have left their intended and rightful place: the refrigerator.

This is another case of teachers coming up with something to bring attention to themselves.

Schools have been doing this for years, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Much like why we have stupid "graduations" for each grade level

It’s not just moms/parents. Schools are openly celebrating it. We have to make our daughter a shirt with 100 things in it for her 100th day of school.

the sad part is this is socializing kids for social media narcissism. that's what it REALLY is, and the parents wouldn't have it any other way

I'm not sure when this started, it certainly didn't happen at my elementary school.

I, of course, will do this when my son is older and if he cares but this just seems like a waste of time and money. The other day daycare had dress like a snowman day. I sent him in normal clothes because he has nothing snowman like and of course the ONE white shirt he had was stained from earlier in the month when they had wear white day and served freaking toddlers pasta with marinara sauce. Good thinking guys.

Anything that makes kids learn that going to school is a good thing is a net positive. If you have a problem with this, you're just a bitch

I have FB due to some groups I’m in regarding work. Good info and I buy some supplies from some guys on there. I never post on my feed and wife doesn’t much. But many times women post stuff for their family and friends which mostly tends to be other women to see. As much as us as guys don’t care, many women do wanna see stuff like that, especially regarding their family or friend’s children. Not sure why it stresses people out that much

ETA: I’d rather see pics of my old friend’s and relatives I don’t see much families than a bunch of political memes or typed out post.

Social media is conflict escalation for the 21st century and will lead to mutually assured destruction.

The need to chase and show a greater level of happiness than your neighbors is going to drive culture moving forward. And there is a big difference between actually finding happiness rather than chasing it so you look happier than the people you know. That kind of happiness is often an illusion.
