Would I drive one? Sure. Would I buy one? No.

I just don't agree with the anti-repair stances the company has taken, so I probably wouldn't do business with them. I am considering an electric vehicle, probably the F-150, for my next vehicle, but I would still want one IC vehicle in the garage for road trips.

We drove one on vacation last year. It took maybe 30 or so minutes at a supercharger. We'd go in the nearest restaurant for a drink while it was charging

I'd own a Model S, however.

Yeah, the Model S is nice, but the 3 looks like a new Saturn. It just looks cheap as shite to my eyes.

I'm hoping a Model X style SUV comes out in the price range comparable to small luxury SUV's (50kish)

If it does, I'll pull the trigger quickly

They are for the person who makes the odd trip to home depot on the weekend which honestly is most truck buyers.

The top tier truck can pull the weight but probably is not set up for a gooseneck hitch. As far as mud and such, you have a clearance of 9 inches or so with the ability to raise it up to 16 inches.

This is the issue especially in the south, there are a grand total of 6 supercharging stations in the state of LA, other than that it is overnight, better plan well.

Correct on super chargers but this is inaccurate for all chargers. You also have third party charging stations and destination chargers. You would be surprised at the amount of charging stations available. You also have the ability to plug into any 110 or 220 outlet but that is not very efficient for getting around.

Front nose totally kills the Model 3, X and Y styling.

Models S is the only one that looks great.

Doesn’t mean shite, buddy lives close to Nashville where they have a store and service center. He hit a deer in his 3 and will be without his car for a minimum of 6 months.

That and long trip viability makes it a hard no for me to buy one.

I don’t hate the model 3, but it also isn’t exciting to look at. Tesla really needs to take a hard look at their design team as every Tesla is beginning to look quite dated. For a company with cutting edge tech, they sure don’t look cutting edge in design.

This poster is gonna have a real tough time buying cars 10 years from now when every automaker will be heavily in the EV game.

The funny thing is as of right now today, Tesla is the only(or maybe 1 of very few) automaker in the US selling EVs without a subsidy.

ETA: 1 thing i do find interesting is 3 or so years ago when this same type of thread came up it was probably 80% posters like this guy bashing Tesla and anyone who brought up the subsidies like this poster would get a shite ton of upvotes and very little downvotes.

It's interesting to see the slow shift in perception even on the MSB where now this post gets more downvotes and there's probably only 10% or so people outright bashing Tesla nowadays and many saying they would buy.

The needle is definitely moving in Tesla's favor with the general public.

The fact that we are all heavily subsidizing the very existence of Telsa via corporate welfare doesn't mean they don't make a fine product. They do. So yes, I would drive one but I probably wouldn't buy one, at least not anytime soon.

If I wanted an EV, I would get the Tesla X or S if I could verify that the extreme winters in this area don’t destroy their batteries too quickly.

I have a Grand Cherokee and a Tesla.

Can't give you much advice cause you have weather concerns and I'm in the DFW area. I'd just suggest doing some research which should be fairly easy.

But what I can say is...if you drive a Grand Cherokee then go out and drive an S or X, you'll quickly realize the Tesla is about 5 million times better than the Grand Cherokee.

How long does it take to charge these things?
At home, 30 miles per hour it'll give you. In fact, the newest version of Tesla wall chargers just released and it looks like you can get upwards of 45 miles per hour of charge.

At a supercharger, you can go from 20-80% in probably 10 minutes.

quote:

If I'm on a long trip and I'm getting low on battery, what are the options?
Supercharger Network that Tesla has.

quote:

Tesla supercharging stations charge with up to 150 kW of power distributed between two cars with a maximum of 150 kW per car, depending on version. They take about 20 minutes to charge to 50%, 40 minutes to charge to 80%, and 75 minutes to 100% on the original 85 kWh Model S.

That info seems a bit outdated, now they're on V3 with the superchargers, and they are much faster than those rates.
