Skylar made a bad play . When he caught the ball inbounds he should have wrapped it up with both hands and arms to his stomach the ball ball couldn’t be punched out. There was only 4 secs left they couldn’t called anything. The only thing they might have done is foul him and then the ball would have gone now to the other end for FT with 3 secs left, if he sinks them both the game is over..

They should change the rule to make it play out the way it has for 50 years: it’s out on the player who slaps or pokes the ball out unless the offensive player somehow regrasps the ball.

As for the review, I think we are killing college basketball with so many late stoppages of play. If you want to review the time under 1:00 fine. But these millisecond by millisecond reviews are unnecessary, and we could all probably find an angle where a millisecond stop can show you what you want to see.

Agree completely.
I can’t remember which game it was last season, but during the whole game the refs were obviously unsure of calls, and then had that 5 minute video replay stoppage to decide on a call. Killed game momentum and fans got bored. If it takes 3 refs 5 minutes to decide on a call they should not be reffing and need to be fired.

Note: It may not have been 5 minutes, but felt like it! Someone here may know . Tell me please.

Yep. Replay fricked with this call, with the best example being in the end of the National Champ game this year

Anytime a ball is poked out there is a good chance the ball truly is still on the offensive players finger tips last, but it has never been called or played that way

Nope. Ball should not have been given to Florida. Plus .4 seconds were put back on the clock.

Hopefully they will change the rule. Any casual fan or high school ref can tell if a ball was slapped away or poked out. No need to examine fingernails on replay.

completely agree. If the defense knocks the ball out of the offense's hands out of bounds, it's the offenses ball -- unless the offense clearly tries to control the ball but fumbles it as it goes out of bounds.

This business about looking frame by frame to see if the offense's fingernail touched the ball for a millisecond as it was being knocked out of his hands by the defender is utter and complete nonsense.

If the defender knocks it out -- it's the offense's ball.

And? Did you watch the game? Did you see on one of the final possessions Mays get hammered, Taylor have his legs cut out dangerously on the putback then Emmitt get hammered on the second rebound. 3 obvious and one dangerous foul on the same play and no call. But then on the next possession when Florida needed a quick foul and time stoppage the lightest contact was called right away.

But I think it could be a blessing because that will be coached up in practice and it wont happen again.

What about will wade’s tenure makes you believe they won’t make the same mistakes twice? His teams still can’t guard the 3 and turn the ball over a lot. Almost cost us a game last night.

should have just lobbed the past mid-court and have someone from either team hit it. Sloppy, sloppy play on our part.

That was exactly what should have happened with .5 secs left to play.
Eliminate all doubt

This. When can we starting using some common sense when it comes to replay? Unless the player on offense is grabbing the ball post-poke by the defender, common sense should prevail that the ball is out on the defender.

Same thing happened in the National Championship Game last year. Same thing happens in baseball when a baserunner pops off a base for a millisecond while the fielder's tag is still applied.

What goes around, comes around though because replay ultimately helped us win the game.

An SEC championship in his second year after taking over a complete teardown and rebuild.

Agree with both. And I will take it a step further. When the ball is poked out of the defenders hand the ball WILL ALWAYS be off the offensive player because the natural rotation of the ball leaving the palm of your hand will then go to your fingertips. This will happen every time, because its physics. Might as well not even go to replay anymore because that is what its going to show EVERYTIME. So when the defender knocks the ball out like that. Just give it back to him........Stupid

Unless the offensive player reaches for the ball and touches it like Skylar did.
