I am genuinely asking. If he was so great in such a brief amount of time then why didn't anyone else hire him? Why was he let go?

I think this is the world we live in now, as a program. You're going to see assistants move on to bigger jobs on an occasional basis. The price of success, but one we're well-suited to pay, IMO, as long as CEO keeps the program structured the way it is now.
Want to be respected, show your stuff, work for a guy who will let you rise on your own merits without micromanaging...oh, and coach elite talent in the best division and conference in the land?
Lots of guys, including former NFL guys looking to re-establish themselves, would (and should) find this appealing.

quote:Defense has a passing game coordinator too.
Wikipedia says he was DB coach and passing game coordinator for Dallas this past year, among other past positions in the NFL.
So he coached offense and defense? That can't be correct right?

There’s a reason the cowboys let him go and nobody in the NFL is blowing his phone up to hire him.
Exactly, and the Seahawks as well.
Remember when nobody wanted Coach O?

He interviewed for the NY Giants HC job. Now whether he was a serious candidate or just interviewed to comply with the Rooney rule is unknown (as it seems like Rhule was the Giants' first choice from the beginning). Nonetheless, he was still thought of highly enough for an NFL team consider him.
He checks a box as someone Orgeron is very familiar with (Richard was a DB at USC when O was the DL coach there). He also comes from the Pete Carroll tree, and we know a lot of what O does is modeled after Pete's time at USC. The only thing is other than a 1 year stint at USC as a GA he's never coached in college. Would he really consider moving to the college game? If so, I think he would be a very serious candidate for LSU

Haha, really. So are you saying that is a normal position on a staff?
Take the tough guy attitude somewhere else

Joe Brady coached LBs at William & Mary, not unheard of to find a coach who excels on one side of the ball who has prior experience coaching the other side.

He was a DC for 3 seasons in Seattle Every coach has been fired before in this era
True. After 4 years in Cleveland Bill Belichek and his DC Nick Saban were fired.

Not sure why people are crazy about this as DC. Maybe bring him in as a replacement to Busch I could see with strong input into gameplan whoever the DC is.
He's nothing but a position coach anyway. He was let go by Seattle with a steady decline to their defense and then didn't get anymore DC jobs. The fact he has a role in offense tells you he's very smart though so he's definitely someone you want on staff in some kind of position. Not sure DC is the answer for us though.

but my only worry would be is he just trying to find a job to springboard back to the nfl

He’d be able to recruit Cali.

Sucking in the nfl has no bearing on what he would do in college imo
This. Ask Nick Saban.

Thanks for posting the link. Sure does love him some Pete Carroll (not a bad thing).

What’s his current employment?

He was 1st, 3rd, then 13th. And to be fair in 2017 the whole LOB took a step back. Chancellor and Sherman both missed half the year, Byron Maxwell missed 9 games. That shite happens when you lose 3 all pro guys for half of your games
ETA even earl thomas missed 2 games. He was still top half of the league without basically the entire legion of boom for a good portion of the year
Why was he let go then?
