Per the paid sites

Has history with O(USC) and has been a coordinator in the nfl the last few years for those unfamiliar

Would be a home run hire imo but my only worry would be is he just trying to find a job to springboard back to the nfl

He is also a passing game coordinator for Dallas. Interesting...

Richard was instrumental to the formation of the Legion of Boom defensive secondary. He helped coach and develop players such as Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Brandon Browner, Byron Maxwell and for his rookie season only, Shaquill Griffin.

Richard attended the University of Southern California, where he played college football as a cornerback[1] under coach Paul Hackett and Pete Carroll from 1998 to 2001.

Wikipedia says he was DB coach and passing game coordinator for Dallas this past year, among other past positions in the NFL.

So he coached offense and defense? That can't be correct right?

Richard was hired in 2008 by Carroll as a graduate assistant coach for the USC secondary (defensive backs).

He followed Carroll to the NFL and joined his former team, the Seahawks, as secondary coach.

Richard's secondary's hard-hitting style has led it to be nicknamed "the Legion of Boom." Bleacher Report described the Legion of Boom's accomplishments as a credit not only to Richard, but to Carroll, who was a safety himself in his playing days and began his coaching career as a secondary coach.[2]

After losing Super Bowl XLIX, the Seahawks promoted Richard to defensive coordinator to replace Dan Quinn, who had left to become the head coach for the Atlanta Falcons.

As the defensive coordinator for the 2015 Seattle Seahawks Richards defense ranked first in points allowed for the season.

So much so that they let him go. I credit the LOB to Dan Quinn personally.

Called plays for Dallas this year. Imagine a LOB 2 with Toles/Harris as Earl Thomas, Mo
Hampton as Kam Chancellor, Elias Ricks as Richard Sherman and Derek Stingley and Cordale Flott. Might not work with Raymond though.

I saw that too, this morning - it means "defensive" passing game coordinator, apparently a unique position on the Dallas staff.
