Watch the ESPN coach room thing and 4 neutral coaches said it was a good call and did not think much of it. Actually the coaches agreed with most penalties except for a few missed calls.

He came close to targeting when he hit Burreaux in the ribs on that TD to Moss

So let me get this straight. Skalski getting ejected absolutely benefited LSU as he was their leader/best player on defense, yet you don't get why people were cheering?

That makes no fricking sense.

What that numbnuts did was old school spearing. It has been illegal at all levels of football since 1976.

There are targeting calls that I hate, but spearing absolutely should result in rejection.

The victory was a little less sweet without him on te field. You want all hands on deck for an event like that.
It would have been really sour if someone had been carted off the field.

The kid has been doing the same shite for years. Hopefully he learns from this.

He launched into him. That's what got him tossed and by the rules it's the right call. May not be a great rule in that situation but it is what it is.

well that dude was making plays all over the field and was laying the wood. I personally was rooting for LSU to win this game and once he was out I really didnt think they would be able to get a pass rush, or stop the run consistently which made me happy. I dont give 2 shits about Clemson or that kid I just want LSU to win personally.

College football is the only level of football where there’s an ejection.
Will probably change soon enough. Other levels will start ejecting.

And FYI the NFL rulebook already states that a player can be ejected for a "flagrant" spear. It's not a huge step to take that judgement call out of the ref's hands.

No, spearing usually isn't an "oopsie" type of play. It's one thing to lower your head in preparation to be hit. That's a reaction. It's another thing entirely to lower your head to prepare to hit someone else. That's intent.

If an LSU player was kicked out for that hit, we would be renting billboards and flying planes over SEC headquarters in protest.
Absolutely not.

I know people here say some dumb shite, but if an LSU player had done what Skalski did (especially with his history of the same shite), most here would probably blame the coaches for not correcting it long ago.

Hell, there are people in this thread saying Chaisson should have been flagged, too.

Let me go tender my resignation at my kickass job, so I can change careers and get myself installed on the rules committee and correct this. shite! I didn't realize it was that simple.

He didn’t even try to pretend he was going for the tackle. He kept his arms at his side. The only contact he was trying to make was a spearing with his helmet. It was like what we used to call a suicide dive into a pool.

Clearly illegal and dangerous. There’s no debating the call.

Yea NFL doesn't kick you out but you get a letter from commissioners office asking what charity you want your $50,000 fine to go to for the targeting/cheap shot tackle !

I’m talking about EJECTION. It was a legit penalty

Yeah. Some have suggested 2 levels of targeting similar to Roughing/Running into the kicker.

1. Incidental Target- 15 yards.
2. Intentional Target- 15 yards + Ejection.

Skalaki's issue was that he laid out and used the crown. I didn't think it was that hard of a hit.

The problem with this is it puts yet another judgement call in the hands of the refs. We need fewer judgement calls, not more. We need more clearly-defined rules with clearly defined penalties. If you have to ask "what was his intent?", the rule needs to be modified.

I was happy that their best linebacker was out the game, but I hated why he was out. I hate that rule.

Any rule that requires these kids to defy the laws of physics and anatomy should be changed.

I agree. It'd be better for the officials too.

Actually one "law" of anatomy says that you shouldn't run into things with the top of your head. That's why the top of your head is on the top and not the front.

What law of physics would this kid have to break to tackle with his head up?

He was coming in late, and launched head first.
