I hated the call. The dude was ballin. It was a hustle play...bang bang play. They have got to change these rules. I wanted to beat them with having their best players on the field...

Well when this dude "hustles" he has a very strong tendency to do exactly what you're not supposed to do. There are numerous clips on youtube of him doing it in high school, and he did it twice in this game.

The kid is dangerous.

It's not like he stumbled and fell head first. He does it on purpose, all the time.

Yeah we all did. But more than that I think we'd like to see all the players leave the field under their own power.

Learns what exactly? That was as far from a dirty hit as it possibly could have been. Justin was falling and twisting toward him as he was going for the tackle. I just want someone to explain in detail what he was supposed to do differently.

I'm glad he was ejected but I don't like the rule and don't think he should have been ejected for that play.

Not having his eyes directly looking at the turf and hitting Justin with the top of his head. It's not the timing or the intent that got him kicked out, it was his form. He dove head first like a missile.

How to tackle properly!

It doesn't matter if it's "dirty" or not. The rule exists for player safety, that of both the runner and the defender.

He was supposed to keep his head up. That's it, just keep your head up. It's really simple. Pretty sure they teach that at all levels.

yea there's a difference between trying to knock the wind out of somebody and trying to tear their knee out.

He should have been penalized (and maybe flagged for targeting) after the TD to Moss! He could have "pulled - off," he wanted to hurt Burrow and it was obvious.

I hated to see that for the guy, but thems the rules.

Regarding the rule, I don't think it has been revisited since it was introduced.

I think they should reconsider the Ejection part of it. Or at least have a flagrant vs non-flagrant.

It may have been his 2d offense - he speared JB hard enough to tear rib cartilage on that TD pass just before the half.

I don’t think an ejection was right. But that’s because I don’t like the rule. The way the rule is written, it was a violation.

So yes, he should be ejected.

It's clear that Skalski's reputation and status is built on the exact thing that got him ejected Monday night.

If he had succeeded in injuring Burrow at the end of the first half, then he and Clemson (and unfortunately the TV commentators) would have endlessly parroted the narrative of his toughness and Clemson's D in shutting down LSU.
And since his hit on Burrow failed to meet Skalski's objective, he took another shot on Jefferson later in the game. If that shot had taken out Jefferson, stalled the drive, etc., then same narrative again. In the unlikely event that Clemson triumphed after those hits, then Skalski would be held up as a gritty, tough-nosed defensive hero, instead of the dirty player that he obviously strives to be. The rule is good, the call was good, and I hope (but seriously doubt) that Skalski will learn his lesson.

According to the rules, it was targeting. No question.

ForeverEllisHugh

Go look at Skalski high school film and then look at his highlights at Clemson, and what do you see?

He lead with his helmet most of the time, Clemson coaches should have coached him better.

It was only a matter of time until he lead with the crown of the helmet on head or neck area to get ejected, not if but when he would be ejected.

Right call by the review refs.

And after last season when we lost how many players on the rule before it was cut down in size, I do not feel one bit for James.

Read the rule ForeverEllisHugh before posting.

Kid has a bad habit of launching and putting his head down. If you do both and make any contact with the head and neck you will be ejected. From the games that I watched, it appeared that if the player didn’t launch they gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I’d say it was karma for the bullshite call they got against OSU in the semifinals.

But yes, I hate the fricking rule. Should just be a 15 yard penalty and maybe an ejection if done a second time.

You are right let’s just slap little ole Clemson’s hand and allow hits to the helmet that could end someone’s career just a 15 ya penalty. It’s happened to LSU and I have agreed with the call. I call the player dumb but I agree

They have to do something about this. There needs to be two tiers to this penalty... 15 yards for both but ejection only on the most egregious ones. The way they do it now is retarded.

the Devin White targeting call should be considered a scandal.

the broad use of the penalty is ridiculous. how the hell is Devin White putting his hands on a QB considered targeting.
the ref the Birmingham SEC mafia should have been arrested and fired for receiving money from Nick or the booster from Alabama.

yeh, ok maybe off my rocker but this officiating, play review is down right pathetic and should be cleaned up.
NFL is worse and has real issues as well.

i hope the XFL is a big hit and cuts into the NFL fake entertainment fiasco. the National Fake League.
