So much for sleeping in Saturday morning. My phone will be sending alerts before daylight.

With advanced radar, etc. You can better track a tornado on TV or your phone better than looking for one out the window

Absolutely agree. I don’t mean to imply that I’m tracking by eye; just that there’s something about severe storms at night that... I don’t know, creates a creepier aesthetic?

Tracking them at night isn't the big problem I have with nighttime tornadoes. My problem is I can't sleep out of fear that if I do, I won't know one is heading my way and will be caught unprepared.

Yeah, that too. Last time we were in a warning zone I was up til 4am because a bomb couldn’t wake my girl up and I’m not getting caught off guard .

I guess it's the instinct of being the protector of the house, but I guess I would stay up all night to wait for the all clear.
Meanwhile, the wife who is always paranoid about any upcoming bad weather will be sleeping like a rock.

Brad Travis?
@BradTravisWAFF
Just a heads up....For your NFL Saturday planning. You might want to look into other options/apps to watch the NFL playoff games should we go into continuous coverage.

I like Brad Travis. His style of covering severe weather is different than most others. Jason Simpson is hard to beat with the knowledge of the area, though. I call him Rain Man.

Right square in the middle of the enhanced zones. Guess I’m not sleeping Friday night. Last time we had tornadoes all over the place and the outlook wasn’t near this bad. I’d hate to see 4 or 5 because 3 is basically impending doom.

The last several days have been kinda crazy in NWLa.

Frost down in the morning and 70 degrees in the afternoon.

30-35 degree swings morning to afternoon.

Read the book "What Stands in a Storm". It talks about the tornado outbreak in April 2011 and has significant insight from Simpson and Spann minute by minute of that event and what they did.

Way better than it looks once the sun is up. The sun heating things up doesn't help the smell, either.

The negative side to that is you get the hottest part of the day which leads to higher humidity and more energy for the storms to develop

The humidity is the lowest in the hottest part of the day and the highest during the night

include these areas because it seems over the past 10 years or so many of the more intense tornadoes don't occur in Texas and the plains.

I agree. Maybe we just hear about these more and pay more attention because it affects us. Also most tornadoes in the plains usually only hit wide open farmland. Ms and Al are littered with rural small towns and homes o the point every tornado hits something. And a lot less people have shelters and preparation here compared to say Oklahoma
