Yea, cbs shows that 1 game of the week so everything’s centered around it. Espn shows about 4 games back to back that all bleed in to one another.
Eta- the abc/espn primetime broadcasts are always well done so I’ll say that

SEC on CBS was the prestige CFB package akin to the old ABC broadcasts. This is a sad day for southern football fans. The great 2:30 game window also just died. ESPN will put every single big sec matchup in primetime.
CBS has the best CFB production value as well. Shame.
Just perplexes me how CBS really sisnt even attempting to make a run at this. It wants to use that $300 million and "invest in other sports"
What the hell does that even mean, they gonna get some MLB games? A dying league? Or how bout hockey?

Just wait until you have to flip to ESPN 4 to watch the first 10 minutes of LSU-Bama because Navy-Temple is going into OT.

Damn right. THose long arse breaks suck the life out of the game, especially when you're there at the stadium.

Gotta get ESPN+ AND Disney+ to watch any of the games.

Other than the mandalorian, pretty much a worthless channel.

The decision to move away from CBS carries some risk for the SEC, especially considering that it has been college football’s most-viewed package for more than 10 years running. The conference will go from a network where it is the only college football conference to one where it will be one of many conferences.
Content is king. The SEC is the king of content.

I mean, the biggest game of the week might not be an SEC game, so it might not be Fowler and Herbstreit, but okay.

So close to 50Mil+ per team?

Agreed. It's good to have a non-Disney alternative that is not screaming Gus (I think Fox's pregame is making good progress, but their game production is terrible).

Maybe NBC will throw their hat in the ring in. Kickoff the day with a noon game on NBC Spots and then a game in the 3:30 and 8 pm slots on the main network.
The prime game would still be the 3:30 one, the 8 pm one would be second in the pecking order. ESPN gets the third pick for one of their slots, then SECN gets 4th for the 7-7:30 slot. NBC gets the 5th pick for noon, 6th pick is back to the SECN for the mid day game and the rest is split up between the SECN and ABC/ESPN.

Any chance the SEC will want to stick with the 2:30 kick? They had tremendous success this past decade in that time slot.

The most likely scenario is less night games for everyone. ESPN is going to want good content for all 3 time slots. They will have a good game on at 11, 2-3, and 6-7. Given how much ESPN is paying, I’m willing to bet they will be almost as long as CBS to recoup the costs. We should be careful what we wish for
