Just perplexes me how CBS really sisnt even attempting to make a run at this. It wants to use that $300 million and "invest in other sports"

What the hell does that even mean, they gonna get some MLB games? A dying league? Or how bout hockey?

CBS going all in on the UEFA Champions League LINK

I imagine they might try to get into esports as well

SEC is already with ESPN also.

That's why ESPN slobbered all over them and wanted the rematch with LSU...and all their anchors on TV cried for it during other games.

CBS had limited coverage.

But who pom-poms for the SEC now if Gary is gone? Who cries for Alabama to be in playoff with two losses?

Hubris from the SEC

SEC is supposed to turn down money when CBS is already enjoying a sweetheart deal? CFB is separating between the have and the have nots. Deeper pockets and the willingness to spend is the reason.

Better than what the PAC 10 is about to do:

Apple tv. Now even less people will watch their games

The conference will go from a network where it is the only college football conference to one where it will be one of many conferences.

Some things are more valuable than money in the long term. While the contract has always been low for the SEC the monopoly power has probably offset it.

Not sure this is good long term news for a conference that is fast becoming all about the $$$$ and less about the fans, schools, or players.

That’s not why

The SEC has been on top because the teams are at the top. In any given year, 6 teams think they can make the CFP, and 6 more can knock them off.

No other conferences can say that

You're delusional on how bad the bottom 8 has become in the SEC.

Like everyone, it's a top heavy Conference with a few good teams. You're living in the past.

Jefferson Pilot and Lincoln Financial are going to emerge from nowhere with an eleventh-hour bid that blows ESPN away. 11:00 kickoffs for everyone!

NBC has their deal with ND but yeah, but perhaps they do a primetime game if the Irish aren't playing one or a 330 game if ND is playing a night home game.

Their coverage isn't bad IMO

If they’d just stop making a 2:30 game end between 6:30 - 7 I could tolerate Gary. The games are just too fricking long

His post doesn’t refute that. Most people know that already. The SEC is too heavy but the difference is out top 4-5 teams is much better than any one else’s top 4-5.

Sure, maybe our bottom 4-5 are worse than others, but 4-5 win teams aren’t what the country is here to watch.

ESPN is going to want good content for all 3 time slots.

I want to live in a world where I can watch the top 3 games every Saturday without having to choose one over the other due to being scheduled at the same time.

Ideally:

3rd best game on Thursday night
5th best game on Friday night
4th best game Saturday morning
Best game Saturday afternoon
2nd best game Saturday night

Better than ESPN, imo. The only thing I didn't like was sometimes LSU's biggest home games of the year ended up at 2:30.
