I wouldn’t leave either of those things within sight in my car in just about any place in this country.

This is the correct answer, barring not having a CC permit and catching the perp in the act.

Honest question to the OP.....do you have any tactical-type stickers on your truck windows?

Nope. I have a Louisiana decal with a duck on it. I have 20% tint all around. Well had. It was really cold on the interstate tonight with no drivers window.

There was also much nicer trucks in the parking lot. I drive a older Silverado crew cab with it’s fair share of dents and dings.

You have a truck
Costas in plain sight
Decal with a duck

That’s what they are looking for. They knew there was. 99% chance you had a gun in your truck.

It’s happening all over NOLA right now.

They are targeting mostly trucks or vehicles that have some sort of sign or vibe that there’s a good chance there’s a gun in the vehicle.

That’s all they are looking for

Am I high as a fricking kite or did someone start another thread not long ago about a gun and laptop being smash and grab stolen?

Thanks for posting that safe BACON. I need, everyone with a gun needs one like that. Napoleon posted one like that during the week also. I like to carry a rifle in my backseat, gonna have to figure how to lock that down.

If you can find a stationary metal piece to loop a cable bicycle lock through and then inside the trigger guard. Even the least expensive ones will prevent a smash and grab unless they are prepared with cable cutters. This will also work for a pistol just loop it through the steering wheel and put the pistol on the seat covered with a jacket or shirt, while obviously not 100% effective the smash and grab thieves will likely have to leave it.

Congrats on proving how irresponsible you are to the rest of us. Never ever ever leave valuables inside your truck. What good does a gun do inside your truck? In case you experience some road rage? The gun is to protect you and if you're eating your overpriced steak it might as well be a paper weight. Good to know another stolen gun is on the street and more people will die due to your liaise fair attitude on securing a weapon.

You never need a gun until you need a gun. What good is a gun locked in a safe at your house when you are not at your house?

You’re the type of person who deserves to be robbed.

Happens all the time in Houston. Don't leave valuables in your truck.

My father checked into a Houston hotel, clerk complimented his work truck and asked what type of job he is doing. Dad woke up to find his truck completely cleaned out

Sullivan’s steak house

We were there last Wednesday for a Christmas party. There wasn’t 3 other tables in the restaurant besides our party at 7:30. I have a feeling they won’t be around much longer.

Find the perp, kidnap him and bring him to your shop and smash his hands with a hammer. Works every time

If you leave a backpack in plain view this is automatic. Evolve or perish.

That area needs to be demolished. Why a small section of ghetto exists in the middle of a thriving part of the city with good neighborhoods around it is beyond me

Went to Sullivan’s steak house for a work meeting. Parked at 6. Walked out at 8:45 to find my drivers side window smashed. Pistol and laptop gone. I think this might be my final straw with BR.

I hate to say but they weren't just walking around the lot smashing windows hoping to find something. They saw your laptop and pistol and took the opportunity to smash the window and grab it. These are opportunistic thieves and you gave them an opportunity.

Still wrong on all levels and I hate a thief, but don't give them the opportunity and it won't happen.
