I like the small SUV’s. Pilot, MDX etc. they ride better and get more respect on the road. Not as good on mileage for sure, but it’s worth it.

I went through three of those transmissions in an Altima before 180k. Never again.

Mazda is the only one that’s actually fun to drive.

Toyota Avalon. Can't beat it for price and reliability and comfort. I put 270k+ on mine and it still ran like a top. Can probably get a 17 or 18 with some miles for under $20K.

I’m in sales as well. Drive 2007 Honda Pilot. Currently has 267,000 on it.

Camry's only require routine maintenance - tires, batteries, oil and gas.

Can probably move up to a 2017 Lexus for $30K.

Can't beat a Lexus for comfort and reliability, IMO.

225k on an 08 isn't a lot of miles.

200k on my 2013 is a decent amount. Especially at 14-15 mpg.

The Lexus advice was good advice. Non CVT and japanese.

For high mileage car that are comfortable on the highway:

2015-2017 Buick LaCrosse
2017-2019 Chevy Impala
2018-2019 Ford Taurus
2018-2019 Toyota Camry

The Altima is known for transmission issues but you seem to have good luck with them. You should put that on the list if you feel lucky. They are comfortable and fuel efficient.

Other advice: find some with comfort features like cooled seats, etc.

Mazda6 is hard to beat. Must go with a 2018 or newer though. And I’d highly recommend the Grand Touring trim or above for the turbo.

In 2018, Mazda overhauled it with a new interior and a few exterior tweaks. But the interior is fantastic. I’d put it up against sedans twice the price. All metal trim is real metal. All wood trim is real wood. Fit and finish is excellent.

And you’d have something different that not everyone has, from a brand that is rapidly moving up-market.

Had a ‘98 V6 Accord with ~165k
A 2007 V6 Accor with ~165k
2015 diesel Passat (damn I miss it! Thanks stupid EPA! ) that had about 60k on when I sold it back. It ran great and was an obvious world beater on mileage.
Stayed with VW Passat (gas) for my last 2 cars and have been happy with them.
