If you trade MT, who would we have at WR for Burrow to throw to? We see weekly threads on here asking about available WR's and now we're really going to consider getting rid of one of the NFL's best? I'm a Burrow fanboy too but he would be leaving a college team, with greater WR talent (depth wise)than the Saints, to an NFL team facing stud defenses every week.

No but I'd trade kamara then sign Murray long term and draft CEH. He can do alot of what kamara does
Edit:nm forgot we signed him for 4 years

Burrow to Thomas would be lethal

quote:not with Sean. He'd be very good. At cincy he might be a bust. But that's also why there is no need for NO to make such a thread. Sean doesn't need an elite qb.
Burrow has as much bust potential as he does potential to be a great QB

This is freaking stupid.
Burrow is a great college Qb but there’s a few things in his game that you can point to him not being a great nfl Qb. You’ll have to take off the purple glasses though.
He has Elite talent around, so that has to be taken into account.
First, he doesn’t have elite arm strength. He’s got great touch and accuracy, but not elite arm strength.
Second, he has been strictly a shotgun Qb this year. No different then the previous ten years of big 12 QBs.
Third, this relates to the previous, he hasn’t shown the ability to turn his back to a defense and then read the coverage quickly. This is shown from his struggles last season when playing under center to this year being all shotgun. Last year he was a 50% completion guy. Coaches realized it and adjusted this year. It seems he has to be facing the defense.
Also the notion that he plays in a “saints style offense” is extremely inaccurate and over used.
Burrow my be a good nfl Qb, but you don’t trade a future hall of fame WR for him.

Brees don't exactly have a rocket and he's a HOF, any if his cons he can develop as a pro. He's got the it factor and that's half the battle I hope he lands with a coaching staff that can turn him into a superstar

True, but I’ll ask how many Drew Brees are walking around? ..... I’m not saying it’s terrible but it is a “knock” on Burrow.
Point being that there are 100-1 QBs who have good but not elite arm strength who never make it in the NFL compared to the ones who do make it.

You’d be set at qb for next 10-15 years

no, do we really need to post the top 5 QBs of the last 5 years that have shown not to be worthy of being a 7th round pick today?
every year there are sure fire locks going into the draft who arent even playing the game 3 years later

I was one who said I’d for sure make the trade but after thinking I agree with you and others. MT is the best WR in the NFL, can’t trade him for an unproven in the NFL yet player. I’m not gonna edit my initial post but I can definitely see the argument against it.

I think the better question is whether you'd trade Kamara and your #1.

Without Thomas, who would Burrow throw to? Michael Thomas is having possibly the greatest season of any wide receiver in the history of the NFL and is still in his mid twenties.
Like others have said trading Kamara is a different story. He is about to want a very big deal for a running back that we might not want to pay $15 mil/year for.
But, I think Brees comes back next year and we'll still be in win now mode and not willing to let Thomas or Kamara go. We really need to draft another offensive weapon to pair with those 2.
If we get any LSU player, I'd like to get Justin Jefferson to be the #2 and let Ginn go.

I agree but I still think we need an Olinemen within the first 2 rounds. We usually go after one big FA a year, instead of like in the past 3-4. I can see us going with a rising star or 2nd tier WR in FA. We are going to have to keep drafting Olinemen early imo.

I love Burrow, but no.
The Saints have a combination that works now.

The fact this thread is this long shows you how stupid our fan base can be.

It shows that it’s a legit question and that it’s worth trading Thomas for Burrow.
