What's the difference between a two minute scoring drive, and a three and out? The two minute scoring drive is longer.
EVERY OC's play calling varies dependent on the score of the game, NO? Will an OC / HC not call a more aggressive set of plays & take way more chances if down by 2+ TDs as opposed to being up by 2 scores?

Nailed it. At least Stevens gave a frick and tried to light a fire under their arse. where was aranda? he's the one making 2.5 million dollars. Shouldnt he be chewing some butts????

I agree. The ppl saying it’s bc of the offense are dumb. Ohio stare runs the same shite and their defense is number 1

The defense has the option of getting off the field quickly.

NO WAY can you blame the offense for what happened last week. The defense was well rested coming out of halftime and Plumlee just ran right by them....over and over and over....on basically the same play.

Former Tigers like Jacob Hester said LSU has been forced to play more zone defense than ever before because man defense is too taxing if LSU’s offense is going to insist on these multiple two-minute scoring drives.

The defense dictates how long the defense is on the field.

we have a lot of upperclassman playing on this defense so there should be no excuses. If we had a young defense/new coaching staff i could understand but we dont.

I believe the D will play much better going forward. Here are my reasons:

They will be better motivated. They have had the luxury of an O, that takes over the game. A lot of the letdowns have occurred after the O has a comfortable lead. Now, they are being ridiculed, and that should generate emotion.

We are now headed into a championship stretch. The D will feel the need to contribute more. We have had some terrific goal line and fourth down stands, which shows me that we can do it. Hopefully, leaders on D can generate focus and consistent intensity.

Well the once proud LSU defense is now a joke to the rest of the CFB world,if that’s not motivation to improve they never will

This is the most appropriate and accurate statement I have read in awhile.

It’s eerily reminiscent of 2011, but on the other side of the ball. In 2011, we all saw the offense start to spit and sputter down the stretch when Jefferson came back, but outstanding defense and special teams helped mask the problems, so we kept winning. Then came the SECCG against UGA and that abysmal first half without a single first down. Once again TM7 and the defense bailed us out and we eventually wore the Dawgs down. Every single person I talked to on the way out of the Georgia Dome that night said the same thing. We have to fix the issues on offense or they will cost us the NC. Of course it turned out that the offense was only part of the problem on 1/9/12, but many of us saw it coming from a mile away. If Aranda doesn’t fix the problems on defense, the ones he can fix this late in the season anyway, they will come back to bite us in the arse at the worst possible time.

When your team is up 21 on most occasions, the defensive scheme goes out of the window. Pace is picked up and opponents are tossing the ball like crazy.

The problem is the stupid Cheetah package. Aranda insist on 3rd down to play one down lineman(Lawrence) and bring in two 200lb LBs to rush off the edge with 8 playing zone.

Bama concerted 3&10,3&25,3&10;3&19,4&5,4&4 on the package

The defense will be ok. They have stepped up when the challenge permitted itself and they will again when needed. With only 4 games left, we will begin to see a few players making an impact that have not had their name mentioned much, if any, as of yet. 4 games and still redshirt. Book it! The D will show up. Quit listening to these clowns. We are poised to make a stand and will make that statement moving forward. Enjoy the show.

You would think that a coach making 2.5 million could maybe make some adjustments to what the offense is doing too. Do you not think that oposing defenses have shown our offense different looks that we've had to adjust to during the course of a game? Aranda has been shitting the bed against the 2 minute offense for 2 years now, and still hasn't found a way to even slow it down.

And the other side effect of the defense sucking is Myles Brennan hasn’t gotten nearly as many reps as we would’ve wanted or what he needs
