From The Advocate this morning...
LSU has gone all Ferrari on offense, but title hopes rest on defense catching up

These are obviously just numbers, but I found it interesting. This is also in the article...

LSU goes into its penultimate regular season game Saturday against Arkansas ranked 47th nationally allowing 367.8 yards per game

Including LSU’s most recent national title season in 2007, 10 of the past 12 national champions have finished in the top 10 nationally in total defense, including LSU that year (third allowing 288.8 yards per game). The only exceptions: Ohio State ranked 19th in 2014 (342.4 ypg allowed) and Auburn with Cam Newton quarterbacking finished 60th in 2010 (368.4 ypg).

Former Tigers like Jacob Hester said LSU has been forced to play more zone defense than ever before because man defense is too taxing if LSU’s offense is going to insist on these multiple two-minute scoring drives.

Sorry but man or zone doesn’t make you take shitty angles and not wrap up.
It doesn’t matter if it’s man or zone if Patrick Queen fills the wrong gap and lazily lets the QB run right by him.
It doesn’t matter if it’s man or zone if Delpit can’t put a finger on a guy that runs a post route in front of him.
Check my post history I haven’t went at the defense at all in over a month but I’m sick and tired of them using the offensive success as a reason they can’t be half arse decent.
I’m also sick and tired of seeing our Heisman candidate in the game in the 4th quarter against teams that aren’t gonna be bowl eligible because our 2.5 million dollar coordinator can’t stop an 18 year old running a read option.
Offense shouldn’t slow down. Defense needs to catch up. This lack of effort, complacency, piss poor technique and bad play calls falls at Arandas feet. He has to be better

100% agreed, on all points.
What's the difference between a two minute scoring drive, and a three and out? The two minute scoring drive is longer. Why is it that LSU's offense put up zero points, and had multiple three and outs last year, but the defense held Alabama's high powered offense under 30, while this year's defense barely held Ole Miss under 40, despite being on the field for LESS time?... Poor tackling, bad angles, you named it already. But people still make the same lousy excuses.

frick you, Solo Cam. You are a whiney fricking bitch. I’m sick and tired of pussies like you who are sick and tired of a 10-0 team that’s ranked #1 in the nation.
Hmm... I'm SURE there weren't people who were concerned about LSU's one dimensional offense in 2011, while the Tigers were "ranked #1 in the nation". And when that problem lead to being shut out in the championship game, I'm CERTAIN that no one complained, because LSU had been "ranked #1 in the nation".
If your day is ruined by an observation that any honest person can see, then maybe it's best not to participate in forum which may contain opinions and observations that don't align with yours. Perhaps you can shout in the mirror how awesome everything is.
I'm enjoying the heck out of this season. That doesn't mean I don't have concerns about something that might ruin it. If LSU can simply play like a top 25 defense, they are golden.

These damn Aranda apologists are mind blowing. An LSU "defense" 47th in the country, and 9th in the SEC. Yeah, we're undefeated....Great season!!!! However, got to believe this shitty defense and DC will catch up with us against the big boys. Hope not, just saying......

LSU’s offense is going to insist on these multiple two-minute scoring drives.

I don't agree with it either. I was surprised to read that in an article meant to say that the defense needs to improve and even more surprised to hear that Hester said it.

Hester spouting the company line. This defense is unacceptable at LSU, especially for a guy making more than any other assistant in the country.

Well the once proud LSU defense is now a joke to the rest of the CFB world,if that’s not motivation to improve they never will

People are going to cover their ears while yelling “la la la” but the defense is a massive liability going forward.

Can the LSU offense complain that the LSU defense not giving them enough time to rest? With the big plays the defense gives up every game they should be well rested.
Posted on 11/23/19 at 6:56 am to TigerLunatik
What’s the difference between a 3 play scoring drive and all the 3 and outs our offense has had over the last 10 years? It’s just not a viable excuse.

This offense will bring the Natty back to LA. Defense, lol, Aranda is a joke. LSU is getting robbed everyday.

I agree. No one even mentioned my biggest takeaway yet...

Also a dominant Heisman QB running an up tempo offense. It can be done and IMO The Burrow will get it done this year. I also expect that the defense will play better down the stretch.

I may be wrong BUT I think that Hester was basically saying exactly the opposite of what ur saying?
If the DB's r spent from chasing WR's every 3 mins with no rest then that would absolutely have a lot to do with guys missing assignments & tackles.
There's a reason that high tempo Offenses rarely have elite Defenses. This holds true in basically every level of Football, especially in College & the NFL. That can't be a coincidence right?

Aranda has got to coach them up better for assignment defense. The excuses of the offense scoring too fast are ridiculous. The defense was awesome when LSU was going three and out all the time.
