Jaxson Hayes...He is starting to become more comfortable in the system

Once this kid puts on 15-20 pounds and he and Zion are sharing the Front Court... WATCH OUT. He is starting to become more comfortable in the system and his athleticism is off the damn charts.

He’s so much fun to watch. The silver lining with all the injuries is that we get to watch our young guys develop faster and you can already see Jaxson and NAW’s improvement

Not sure if he can be a stretch 5 but his athleticism is amazing

I don't think they see him as a stretch 5. He is a rim protector and a finisher at the rim. He will be fantastic in this Gentry style offense with hard rolls to the goal which will free up wide open shooters.
The help he will attract will cause wide open shots for our shooters.

We dont have a system...
Just run around and shoot
Just run around and shoot

Not every modern big man has to be a fricking stretch 5 to succeed. Just be happy with an insanely athletic rim runner and rim protector

If he can be anywhere defensively near gobert, that would be icing on the cake.

Exactly, he's has as quick a second jump as guards and he's super long. He just needs to add some strength and learn how to not be so jump happy all the time, but that just comes with time in the league

I loved his potential from day one. I ignored all the negative shite from a few posters.

You can see in about 3-4 weeks he is going to have some major posters. I just love his energy and how the opposing teams defense are going to have to really help on his rolls which will free up JJ, BI and Jrue. Even though we are off to a rough start, there are a ton of bright spots!

Def won't be a stretch 5, but in the Summer League he had a decent stroke from midrange a few times. Def can develop that.

His mechanics are good. Was watching him in warmups and he splashed a few threes and then effortlessly did an eastbay. He’s a freak athlete

Joel even said on the broadcast today that his release doesn't really need any work. Him having a competent midrange would be huge, especially if they run a bunch of P&Rs with him and Zion. Mixing in a few pops with those rolls would help keep defenses honest.

I was telling a buddy earlier that since this year is a wash with all these young kids, its good that Hayes and NAW are able to show what they can do. It could be a blessing in disguise for the future. I wish Zion, Frank, and Ingram can be playing to gain some chemistry themselves, but its okay at the moment letting the younger role players have to dictate the game.
Lonzo can be a really good asset if he learns his role. Just thought I should add that.

I hope Gentry isn't here next year, as in January 2020

This is the worst take on this board, just shows this boards lack of knowledge regarding the game.

I'm pretty sure he finishes out the season. I've accepted it.

Interested to see once Favors and Okafor are healthy will Hayes still get minutes?

New Pels beat writer for the Advocate, Christian Clark, has a new article up about Jaxson:

If you’d asked Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry sometime last month if he envisioned Hayes starting before Christmas, he might’ve shot you a funny look.
“No, not in this lifetime,” Gentry said.
Already, injuries have smashed Gentry’s initial plans with a sledgehammer.
...The raw ability is there. Hayes just needs to continue to harness it.
“He’s been great,” guard Jrue Holiday said. “It’s definitely a different weight class going from college to the league. I think going up against these guys every day and getting experience has helped him a lot. He’s really been working with the coaches. He’s been asking a lot of questions. To get a big block on Willie Cauley-Stein, to sit and guard guards is big. He has the potential to be very, very good.”
