Fair enough. I just take issue with people giving particularly the 718 chassis shite. It is one of the best sports cars you can buy under $80k. And 170mph is a figure relatively few people have much if any personal experience with.

still hard for me to picture how they go by the pole and through the wires, I am probably not understanding what direction they were coming from

This video from a Philly Fox news station copy shows the approach and the embankment they launched out of. It makes it easy to see how it happened BUT hard to comprehend how they were carrying enough speed to launch that high. frickin' nuts.

That’s both amazing and sad. No telling how fast that car was traveling, to see the skid marks, pieces of metal in the road, and traveling thru the embankment.

Video of this would make a great IN gif.

Had to be hauling well over 100 when shite hit the fan. The skidding and spinning would have scrubbed a lot of speed before he hit the embankment that launched it.

Dimwits luckily only killed themselves and not others on the road that day.

Need a hard top if you’re susceptible to running out of talent like that.

A Nascar cage may have saved them.

not just being launched but lifted when air gets under the relatively light weight car. you see it happens when race cars wreck, light open wheel cars can really get lifted.

Being a boxster and getting it to airborne like that is amazing without driving up a full ramp.

Hard to imagine getting that particular car up to enough speed to be able to launch like that. If they were in a 718 GTs or even a 918 I could see it. Pretty impressive with the 718 boxster and also very stupid.

Just curious, If you had your choice of any real car enthusiast's "supercar" that could out-handle a little ragging Boxster...you know.. really put it to shame in pure, mega-buck, world-class, handling response, just insane gripping of the track at any speed...unlimited budget...Lambo, Mclaren, Ferrari, etc...money no object...just name it... what would you pick?

I did some ridiculously rudimentary numbers using a somewhat less than optimal 40-degree ramp angle and assumed the building was 70 feet away and 12' of increased height where it hit, not knowing if it was going up or coming down I calculated that as the apogee. I got 59.1 meters per second which is 121 mph. How close I am I dunno but it is the best my feeble mind could do. That means the Boxster would have had to be near Vmax at the time the driver lost it.

Note the "ramp" was all sorts of suboptimal which I didn't account for except reducing optimal angle by 5 degrees and I can't tell the actual distance or height increase. It is possible the height difference is significantly less than 12' depending on how far below the ramp the building foundation is.
