He played well, but Dorsey was something different at LSU. He has the hardware to prove it.

He don’t wear 72 as a coincidence bro

There were definitely moments I had 72 flashbacks, I’m going to be honest

He sure has come a long way since arriving.

He is a force . Big asset.

The entire d-line picked it up in the 4th. Lots of penetration into the backfield. They need to keep that d-line rotation going to keep them fresh throughout the year. Now, if they can only start the games with that level of heat.

Shelvin is solid but he's no where near looking like Dorsey. Dorsey could consistently get penetration and blow up plays, especially on crucial 3rd downs. We don't even use Shelvin the same way so it's really foolish to compare them.

He looked more like Nevis to me.
Dorsey had those big taped Ninja Turtle claws that swam past the line, Nevis was a size rusher like Shelvin.

Shelvin was about 360lbs at kickoff. Pretty sure he was down to about 320 in the 4th. Big Boy has a motor and didn’t take plays off. I was stunned how fresh he looked late in the game. He had a huge game that was probably the difference for the defense in the 2nd half.

There were many plays that Shelvin was held with no calls. I saw at least 3 sacks for him if he wasn't held.

Dang, the guy is a beast. Breathing down Trask's arse all night long. Just a split second late from splashing Trask all over that field.
Guy just earned himself an NFL offer.

Not quite Dorsey. Dorsey was at another level. But there were times he dominated his blocker and put good pressure on Trask. Shelvin is arguably the most improved player on D this year.

Give him time, Shelvin is just coming into his own, I thought he was dominate last night and will only get better as the season goes along.

His best game for sure. He couldn't be blocked last night and he didn't get gassed near as much as some of the other players.

My pick for breakout defensive player this year!!

There was a third down and long where he was blatantly held in the end zone. Should have been a safety and would have all but ended the game.
He was a monster last night.

Big ole baw deserves some rice

Yea he was lunging like a great white shark after a baby seal. Impressive for a big dude his size.

He is used very differently than Dorsey. Even though Aranda was a one-gap guy for his first three seasons here, he’s letting Shelvin play as a two-gap 3-4 NT this year. That’s a thankless role, because you are almost always dealing with a couple of guys and two holes, but he’s getting it done. He was blowing his guys into the backfield in the fourth quarter. I was very impressed.
