He looked very dominate Dorsey-esk, I don't think one man can block him.

There was a third down and long where he was blatantly held in the end zone. Should have been a safety and would have all but ended the game. He was a monster last night.

Tha was a hold and intentional grounding. The overhead camera proved that Trask wasn’t outside. He threw past the LOS, but to no one. That’s grounding. And the refs didn’t catch either.

What a difference a year makes. Last year some fans wee doubting he would ever play.
Turn him loose. He has unlimited potential.

Shelving was just abusing that poor center.

He's not really a Dorsey type. He's a true 3-4 nose whose primary job is to blow up the middle and let LBs clean up

That was a second and long, Aranda pulls him and Lawrence out for the speed guys on third down, even though they weren't getting there with their speed

Bitched all night every damn third down Shelvin is on the bench when he was blowing up their o line, and sure enough they would give Trask all day to throw on third and he would convert

What a game by TS.

Saw several massive holds on him that saved the QB's life. Refs
And as someone else said one was in the end zone.
Great game

I’m hoping he can start spelling Shelvin more down the stretch. Have a legit NT at all times makes life easier for the whole line. If only Aranda would stop screwing around with the rotation and do this.

He is used very differently than Dorsey. Even though Aranda was a one-gap guy for his first three seasons here, he’s letting Shelvin play as a two-gap 3-4 NT this year. That’s a thankless role, because you are almost always dealing with a couple of guys and two holes, but he’s getting it done. He was blowing his guys into the backfield in the fourth quarter. I was very impressed.

Can't emphasize this enough. In this system, the NT is like a center. He's doing his job if they don't call his name a lot. It is a thankless job.

If he gets sacks and TFLs he is doing a spectacular job.

If the game splits show low to no rushing yards in the middle of the field, he is doing a spectacular job.

If he is pushing the blockers back into the pocket giving the QB no place to step up, somebody else is likely to get the sack but he will have played a significant role with getting any stats for it.

Shelvin has taken hold of his own deficiencies (work ethic and weight control, I'm basing this on feedback I got from guys where he played in HS) and become a spectacular player. That should be applauded as much as anything IMO. That is a difficult thing for most people to do.

Draft stock as a nose guard is skyrocketing! Glad to see he got his shite together. If he can get down to about 335-330 he’d be a 1st rounder in my opinion. It’s safe to say he’s no longer a “bust”!
